Hey Guys,

My car runs pretty good. Engine is great condition, use premium petrol, oil, regularly serviced - both engine and transmission. dizzy cap, belts, leads all replaced and in good condition. Generally most mechanics have said my car is in top notch order. Except for one thing that mechanics can't seem to pick up. I've been thinking it's the way ive been driving the car? Anyway, When excellorating uphills or just after i've turned a corner, my car makes a loud (sometimes soft) thumping/bumbing sound and motionion and then unleashes power. It varies day in/day out. There is not really any pattern to it. I've noticed it is slightly better after service and on a full tank of fuel. This is so annoying!!! Nobody has been able to identify the problem!!

is it like a dull thud sound, and then revvs hard? Mine does this too, usually when im turning a corner and apply acceleration around the apex of the corner. Gotten into the habit of accelerating once im out of the corner and its stopped doing it...
Would be nice to know what does it tho???
edit. pretty sure its not gearbox related either. Got it serviced 2000km ago and the guy said it was in perfect working order, just changed the filter and fluid.

My civic used to do it, i'm inclined to believe it's the tranny computer. My reasoning is that it downshifts as you slow, but you must be applying accelleration when it is in the process of this happening, confusing the computer, and finally making it gear up. That's my explanation LOL

Yeah, it can be a dull sound, with varying intensity. Sometimes you can feel the shock go right down the side of the car towards the back. It's esspecially bad when going up hills. It's like as the hill gets steeper and steeper the car won't downshift at the right time then when it does its like - clunk.... vrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooommmmm.. It also happens sometimes when I come to a complete stop - just before I stop there is this loud shudder/bump/shake at the front of the car, sometimes scarily loud and you can feel the shockwaves through the accellorator!!

mine does this too. its a loud clunk when accelerating out of a corner or braking for traffic lights etc.
i just put it down to the trans box crapping itself and its time to get a new one or a manual conversion.
an auto gearbox service didnt fix the problem at all.
it doesnt always happen but is bloody embarrasing when i have other people in the car
