As Fysh said. It could be the CVs. When you lower a car, the suspension
geometry changes and the stresses placed on CVs etc are magnified. You
should've got them to do an alignment as well. It could also be that the
tyres are rubbing on the plastic splash guards. You should be able to verify
this by looking at the splash guard and see if theres any evidence of
rubbing.

Soothers got it installed by a friend.. and silly old him should've got a wheel alignment!

We got that same noise when we had the KJ lowered.. they fixed it up in like 5 minutes.. it was the guards going TINK coz they popped further back.. then TINK when turning the wheel straight again.

Youre all wrong!!!

I had the same thing happen Soothers when we did the install into my VRX

You need to take it back to where you got it done.

They need to take out the whole thing again and align it properly. On the later model magnas there is a 'Key" that has to be lined up. The key is 2 holes about the size of a 5 cent peice at the top and bottom of the strut brace and they have to be facing OUT towards the tyre. I found this out when i took the car into the place i brought the coils at.

The kinking noise you are getting is because the coil is compressing as your are turning the wheel and then its slipping back. clunk clunk..

so if i just get a wheel alignment .. its not gonna fix it

Correct.

Because whats happening is your coil is compressing. What i mean is.. IF you got the top of the spring in one hand and the bottom in the other.. THen you moved your hands both in opposite directions it compresses (winds up) the spring. (easiest way to describe it)

When the struts are installed properly there is a little top piece that rotates which stops your coils from winding up.

What theyve done is put them in with 1 key facing the engine bay and 1 key facing the wheel! While it cant harm the actual strut it isnt good to leave it how it is.

Get someone to sit in the car and start turning the wheel. Watch the coil as the wheel turns. You will see it winding up. Then when you move the wheel back is will jutter back to position.

If you were in Melbourne I could fix it for you in an hour. But alas you arent.

bain is exactly right....dont drive like this as it is annoying and dangerous

because if it gets worse you will turn and the springs will lock the steering up and u will head towards a gutter

look at the spring...it sits on an angle and the top plate is on a angle too...look at it carefully and it will all make sense. it has to be aligned PERFECTLY

What we did to make sure we got mine correct (the 2nd time round) was place a piece of dowel in the 2 keys so it was aligned straight as we put them back in.

Because im a champ, ill take a tyre off tonight and take a pic or 2 for you to explain what you are looking for.

You will have to take the strut back out yes.

Youll need a Torque wrench, spring compressors, some spanners and a jack :)

If you need the torque settings for all the nuts let me know.

If you got it pro installed why dont you just take it back and get them to fix it!
