Hey guys

I have been reading alot about sound deadening through past posts and its all been very helpful, but theres one thing i cant seem to find, how do i get my wing/spoiler to stop vibrating?? its driving me insane, cause if i press down on the wing with a light bit of force 50% of my vibration/rattle worries go away!! i just need to be able to make it as rattle resistant as possible. rubber washers? new mounting rubber? any ideas would help

Also i was having a look at some spray on sound deadening and it comes in black, and i dont want to really spray that stuff on, want to be able to keep it all relatively removable, is there some sort of matting i can use instead? because i am doing most of the sound deadening in the boot lid and the wheel arch area now, then when the custom box is in, doing the spare wheel well.

thanks to all in advance

Clark Rubber sell 1 or 2 mm self adhesive Neoprene foam sheets for a few dollars. Grab a couple of those and try with some cut to shape between the wing and the bootlid.

Its already got a small 1 mm thick layer of rubber down in between! stupid wing, and i just keep finding more rattles :@ !! now the plate under the car where the muffler is, that rattles. like WTF am i just expecting too much bass or is my car shod? i had a hilux before with this system and i had no where near as much rattling about it.

Meh i shall persist, anone else got some ideas?

Ok there is stuff called LOCK TIGHT you can get it from repco or whatever it is made to stop your screws from getting loose which was always a prob with the wing and since using this stuff there is no more vibration and the wing is secure as well - not sure how we will go if we need to get it off for some reason but it works well

When you get rid of a rattle somewhere, then something else will rattle. You won't get rid of "everything" so stop trying to believe you can :P
My solution. De-wing. It'll get rid of your rattle, and look way better! 2 birds!

No number plate surrond, plate DOES NOT rattle. thats the first thing i fixed.

and as for LOCK TITE, i know what it is and i think that it might not alleviate the problem because the bolts on the wing are already tightened REALLY REALLY tight, i couldnt get em off otherwise i woulda driven around dewinged for sure!! however i will try it

guys i dont want to remove the wing, i like it :D. Any ideas on the plate on the bottom of my car above the muffler? i was thinking of making a makeshift wedge so that it gives it some rigidity.

BTW righty i understand rattles will ALWAYS be there, i dont mind that it rattles, however when it rattles soo loud that i can hear it over the subs while i am in the car..then it becomes an SQ issue.

cheers for the ideas guys, keep em coming!

hmmm thats funny cause my number plate surround makes more noise than my spoiler
then again my spoiler doesnt vibrate alot
as for the bit above the muffler, mine was rattling but i bent it abit and stop most of the rattle
i had the subs going found the bit and grab the end and bent it down till it stop rattling

hmm get more bass so u can't hear the rattle anymore,

if you use dynamat or something similar on the boot lid the wing shouldnt rattle..
are you sure its the wing and not the parcel shelf?
as for the plate over the muffler try hittin it with a hammer should do the trick dont know how just stretches it i guess.
