I want a V6 wagon with a manual box (rare). How's the price on this one?
Also the add says it's a 3.0, would that be right? I thought they were all 3.5 by 1999.

The 3.5 was optional in the TH Executives.
That one looks clean from the photos and has good mileage, but I'd try and find one with the 3.5 for the extra torque if it will be used as a bit of a work horse/family carrier. But then again, it is manual so perhaps the torque deficit over the 3.5 wouldn't matter so much compared to an auto. Ayway, that one look good.

it's abit overpriced for a 3.0L. should be able to get that down to at least 8k.

I want it for to carry my windsurfing gear around on the weekends and occasional medium towing - something my present 2.6 four-banger does fine.
Are the 3.0 litre engines more fuel efficient that the 3.5s?

For 9? That's horrible new for me

Are the 3.0 litre engines more fuel efficient that the 3.5s?
According to redbook figures there's not a huge difference:
3.0 Exec Wagon
Fuel Consumption City 9L/100km
Fuel Consumption Highway 6.6L/100km
3.5 Exec Wagon
Fuel Consumption City 10.5L/100km
Fuel Consumption Highway 7.2L/100km
In real world driving, with the extra torque of the 3.5, the difference might be negligible. I regularly get over 700km a tank and recently managed 789km at 8.3L/100km.
Here is the comparison:
http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/comparespecs.php?key2=MITS99FZ&key=MITS99FX
That one in your original post is priced a little above what redbook says they are worth:
Red Book Code MITS99FX
1999 MITSUBISHI MAGNA
TH Executive Wagon 4dr Man 5sp 3.0i
Prices based on km 120,000 - 200,000
Trade in price guide* $2,800 - $4,200
National average price - private sale* $4,500 - $6,700
Price when new (RRP) $29,790

i got my MY02 TJ Advance with LPG for $9500 it had 200,000ks
is it really the XS touring version that has all the fancy pants stuff and is HELLA rare
Hi guys, I'm positive this car is a 3.5
It is apparently an "XS Tourer" limited edition model which came out in 1999, in 3.5 only, and you got "free" alloys, air-con, Sony stereo with CD changer, and cruise (I think)......plus the yellow "XS Tourer" stickers on the front doors and bootlid.
Sedans got a spoiler too.
If you look where the indicators on the front guard are, you can see the little silver 3.5 insignia
Just my 2c worth, but I do think it's a 3.5......

according to that redbook link it was only around $600 extra for the 3.5litre.. why in gods name would you get a 3.0litre

I've just been to see the car. It _is_ a 3.5 not a 3.0 and it is an XS Touring Wagon as jzt pointed out.
The car is in very nice shape. I didn't spend too long with it the paint seems flawless, it has cruise control, a tow bar (which I need) already fitted, alloys etc, and that manual 5 speed..
The engine bay was immaculate (but they had already detailed it) and I asked about the timing belt, but the salesman wasn't sure. I didn't get a chance to see the logbooks.
The interior looks good, with just a few wrinkles in the upholstery and some scratches in the plastics in the back.
I am thinking about buying this car but am not sure. I'll have to do some more maths. I'd also have to be satisfied that the belt had been changed or that cost would have to come off the price.
Looks to me like it would be good for another 200 000ks.

You will drive yourself insane thinking about what you can get if you spend 'just a little more'. Every time you up the ante by about $500 you get something slightly nicer, and it's never ending.
My advice? Start with a fixed budget, and work from there.

He's right, i originally had a budget of $8k for a TH 3.5L, ended up stretching that to a TJII 3.5L for 12k hehe.
