Hi

Im new and have got a great 99 wagon super clean and strait with 220,000 K's (country) on the clock.

The engine still goes great, but I can see a time soon when it might need to be replaced. Has anyone here ever done it or are aware of any good deals/places that can put a reco 3.5 in a 99

Places like Frank's Autos in Campbelltown sell virtually complete 3.5s - fully tested and with a warranty. They only remove the starter and the alternator - everything else you get and they test them with their original ECU's before they remove them from the cars so you know its a fully functioning unit that doesn't rattle or blow smoke or whatever. Prices vary according to stock at hand but are about a grand for one with 30k on it, about $850 for one with 80k on it. So that's a very reasonable option.

Otherwise, apparently fully rebuilt long engines (no ancilliaries, so you need intake, throttle body, sensors, belts, injectors etc) come in at about 2.5K - this was a recent quote from my mechanic but I'm not certain of the supplier - it was Gem or one of the other known name rebuilders.
