Saw a v3000 today. Only saw it from the rear. They look a lot narrower than a magna. It was blowing abit of smoke when it took off at the lights.

If you're oil is good, and good quality, the best thing to stop the smoke is Nulon Engine Stop Leak. It isn't a thickener like most stop smokes, it softens the seals and makes them more pliable which is a good thing. This should stop the smoke and if it still smokes slightly they do have a special engine stop smoke which thicken the oil (but in a different way to other stop smokes)...
Anyway, there's not real reason to have a smokey car! especially when the fix cost $10 :D

I so want a V3000, I was told by MMAL when I was enquiring that the Magna body was sent to NZ and had the V6 dropped in, yet Mitsu-NZ said that they were based off the Galant body.

It was based on the jap galant/sigma and was also available in Europe and US. They had
the same V6 as our 2nd gens but from the mid-late 80s.

To make the TM-TP Magna's MItsi's took the Jap Galant and widened the body, thats why the V3000 looks narrower, because it is. From memory it was 100-150 mm added to the centre of the body. The rest of the car was just cosmetic changes.

It was only 65mm that was added to the car.
I have a nice write-up here - http://magna.trynsave.net/index.php?title=TM
