Have a strange noise coming from the engine area of the car when I accelerate.
If I back off the accelerator it stops.
If I gently accelerate it doesnt do it.
The motor appears to be running fine as is the auto transmission which changes gears very smoothly.
Hard to describe the noise,I dont quite know how to put the sound it is making into words.
I guess you could describe it as sort of a rattling noise, but somehow I dont think that that adequately describes it.
Originally I thought that it may have been an idler pulley.
If it was something that was rotating all the time you would think that the noise would show up while the engine was running constantly.
The vehicle has had the timing belt changed.
What sort of a noise does the water pump make when it is on the way out?
The vehicle has travelled 123,600klm.
Has anyone else come across this problem with their TF ?

Slightly loose drive belt on the a/c+alternator? If that belt isn't dead tight, you will get a "grumble" kind of noise on slight acceleration.
