Hey heres what ive been doing for the last 2weeks painted the console and some of the enigne bay..

it looks bright but its cos i had the flash on when taking the pics cos i did it at night and cars a bit of a mess but cant keep it clean when working on it lol but ill fix it all up so shes beautiful again :P..


(ps dw about the gear knob just a **** one cos i couldnt find my other one) :(
(and the grill isnt on and never is the mesh and driving lights on the front bumper)

umm ive got the comdoms for the bulbs you can get red,blue, yellow, orange, heaps of colours but if you want it bit brighter go with the led dash lights you can pick them up from super cheap, auto pro and places like that, been out of my car for 1 1/2 weeks now

Looks awesome mate...it's what i want to do to mine.....there's just something nice about red and white :cool:

The only advice i would give to ppl is to stay away from condoms. Those things fade away after about a month or so. If u can try to go with led's. I had condoms in my head lights after a week they were gone cause of the heat. And i know it's MUCH hotter in the headlight then dash but those bulbs will still get hot and fade away. For the dash i would recommend getting wide angle leds to spread the light more. Available from the same stores. They look like they got a big blob of clear plastic on top.

painting the console was 1 of the 1st DIY jobs i did myself,i like how wat you have done wit your clusters behind the air con dials and that,you will have to explain to me how you did that next on msn,keep up the good work mate:D

I know everyone's a critic, but what would top it off would be to paint the vents white - it will contrast against the red beautifully, not to mention marrying up with the duco :D

Mate paint inside of the cluster as well, will look ten times better imo!!

Other than that top job dude, looks good!!

paint finish looks nice but to much red IMO.

also think it is illegal to paint you washer bottle cuase you need to see the fluid level. if you get pulled over and cop goes through your engine bay that might get you a defect (i could be wrong so check up on that)

Yeh as Ashneel said, paint finish looks great, but i'm not a fan of the actual colour. As long as you like it, that's all that matters :).
I like the red glow of the climate controls, something i might do in the not too distant future.

to tell you the truth it looks bit different to that pic its not as bright for one and looks like its ment to be.. yeah im changing to the leds cos the comies melted when i had them on my parkers.. theres still bit more to come so when ive done it and got the door panels back on ill post again :)

In my silver TR, i would paint the dash and all stock naxy blue parts black and have what is red here brushed silver (perhaps gun metal?). How hard/expensive is it to do this? I might leave the dials that same, but is it possible to change the light colours?

Also, with painting, how do you actually paint the vinyl/plastic without the paint flaking. I don't think its possible to strip it first.

Good quality ricer condoms for bulbs dont fade. Have some on my parkers and use my lights and high beam regularly and the heat hasn't affected them.

I heard that you can use nail polish on ur light bulbs to change the colour....

Yeah that should look ok as long as you like it, wsnt that hard just took time, i put a white undercoat underneath than sprayed it with the red theres a few things that flake but not on the console nothing has flaked cos i used a clear plactic spray over it when it was finished with the red, you can pick it up from super cheap, auto barn, auto pro, auto one,repco and places like that but i would advise you not to get it from super cheap cos there paint is ****.. you can paint ur seats but i wouldnt recomend it just get black throw over seat covers. and yeah ive changed the console lights as well as the speedo all you use it the colourd comdoms or get new led bulbs.

ive still got alot of stuff to paint but all up atm its set me back around 50-70dollars
but thats only cos i have used 4cans of paint at 13dollars each

i think it was post 22 that explains the bulbs you will need and to your question you asked you can use both any colour T5 bulbs and LED strips
