its illegal to have fog lights on when driving
so you'll have to wire them up to a seperate switch inside the car
unless you buy a indicator stalk with a fog light switch already on it

they have a little turning switch on the main lights switch, not sure if you could just get one of these from a wreckers or what. but yeah.

If you don't have a Verada you won't have the wiring loom or light switch stem on the steering column. Easiest to custom wire, should only be able to turn on when you have the headlights on.

and yes ... it is illegal to use them unless you are in bad weather.

You can purchase an aftermarket switch & wiring kit from Big W.. Easy to install, and allows you to put the lights on a switch. Nice neat little button which can be hidden away. All up about $20

Have a seperate switch for the fog lights. Go to Super Cheap they have the wiring kit for $15.00!!!! includes everything and instructions. You may need just a roll of wire to extend some of the wiring but thats about it 2 hours of work and you can hook it up. I know nuts about electrics in the Magna and so this should be really piss easy to do.

Its not legal to drive with fog lights on without a fog. Also ensure it is wired to 'on' only when your lights are turn on.

where is it illegal in this country to drive with ure fog lights on.. i do it all the time when drivin on the highway and never get pulled up for it when passin cops..

oh yeh.. like everyone else has said.. u will have to either get a auto elec to wire them up with a switch.. go raid a verarda or model that had fog lights for the stalk.. or wire it in ureself.. and wire it into ure parkers(with the option of turning them off with a switch).. i had mine just on a switch by themselves, and forgot to turn them off a few times.. .. that was quickly radified.

oh and if u havent already put wires through ure firewall.. i.e for amp or wotever.. have fun gettin ure wires though.. freakin painfull..

I would not take a $100 fine chance, Have heard people getting done, and no reason why I think I am so much special that cops dont catch. They do not catch does not mean is legal. They have the right to give you one when you least unexpect it. I leave it to the cops of this thread to lay the rules for you. I am pretty sure is NOT LEGAL to do so especially in city driving.

Not worth the risk mate.

Using fog lights inappropriately 3 Pts $100 (2 PU)
Do a search and you know is true. If it applies to WA it is definately applied to the other states no doubts.

it illegal here in perth. which is annoying because we never really get fog over here. yes people do drive with them on all the time but it will just depend on the cop that sees it i guess.

ahh i see.. if i do have mine on.. they are on with my normal lights.. and i see alot of people on the road doing the same.. not saying that its not illegal here... but, unless the cop is really anal i dont think anyone would get pulled up for it.. "they are 'driving' lights officer.. so people can see that i am coming"..

On the note, I have seen heaps of people here getting SMART cops that they will find something to argue with you about. In relation to the lights they can tell you straight that driving lights are not located at the lower bumper position, you will need to have them reinstalled. Worst part is they can pull out some specifications in front of you to tell you that these are Fog lights not driving lights.

Out of 5 people I met talking about these, at least 4 said a friend or so got done having them on, it was a BMW, a WRX, and others like 4WD as well. Its your luck, I have seen quite a number having them on, maybe thats because they never realise this was a rule till they get fined.

I would say country side is alright, not TOWN just be mindful with lowering your highbeams for incoming traffic or they probably give you a finger.

I used them specially for country roads.

$75.00 fine in NSW.

The real issue is that people put spotlights in and treat them as fog lights.
Becomes the same as driving with high beam on so it's bloody dangerous.
Don't know how many times I've been blinded by ignorant ********s with their pseudo fog lights on.
Get's my goolies !!

Edit: Richard Craniums was the term replaced by the "system" with ********s.

i was speaking to one of the blokes from the pits and you are correct they cannot be classified as driving lights if they are below a certain position. and he was saying there is no real way to get around it if the cop is going to do you for the lights being on its gonna happen.

Yeap, and I wasnt referring even to unreasonable cops. Was focusing on some cops who know exactly what to look out for and can really tell you off in a nice way and you still get done. Nowadays they have the knowledge on these kind of things.

Anyway, The wiring kit from Super Cheap Auto is easy to wire, and you can do it the way that you turn on your lights the fog light turn on, its basically leaving it on with the switch. Go nuts, but I just would be worry if you get caught. Best is to just have them on when you really need it.

For $15.00 wiring kit, I say is the best and cheapest way to go, if you want the better way, use the verada stalk with the fog light.
