I've noticed my fuel consumption has gone up .5l/100 over the past three weeks fueling
from the same fuel stations. Me thinks the Petrol Giants have started secretly selling crapy
fuel.

Suspicion noted. lol Yeah some fuel brands I can feel power lost even though is the same grade. Oh well.
And ur Knight rider we do have a dedicated fuel consumption thread. lol
Just change your fuel filter or decarbonise etc. and see how it goes.
I think its a combination of your fuel/air filters getting old and the lowering of the octane of Australian fuel in general. Regular is now 91, which is minimum for most cars, this will cause you to lose kms.

Regular has always been 91.

I've been filling up with United ethanol blend. Last time I fuelled up it was 11 cents cheaper than Woolworths WITH the docket. Thats only because there aren't too many SAFF outlets around which is my preferred fuel. The ethanol blend from United is premium octane grade, and in my TP, a friends TR and my parents TH SAFF and the ethanol blend (not the normal one) from united all run better than even the normal premium fuels from other places.
Of course many people have a preferred fuel, and they'll insist its better. Even to the point of a slight change in driving habit using that fuel without realising it to help their claim (psychology! its weird). I only started using it because its been consistently much cheaper and the car running better is a bonus!

Its always been 91. More to the point 3rd gens can't adjust to higher octane ratings anyway, so youll get the same consumption on regular or premium. It's been covered many times.
