Hi guys,

I have been researching the buggery out of this - installing aftermarket HU's into a 380.
I get my 380 in a couple of weeks, and i want to get an aftermarket pioneer HU into it and connect my subs and amp etc.

I'm pretty sure this can be done with no major dramas, but i've been told the lcd screen at the top may not work at all, and i will lose the use of the steering wheel controls. and im a bit worried about the bluetooth kit not working either.

Anyone out in 380/magna world know if any of this is true, or if there is anything i can do/get to make these things work?

Thanks.

You will need to get an expensive with bluetooth ability to use bluetooth still. As for the controls I beleive some head units have an interface for this that all you need is some sort of adapter, as for finding both in one unit it's going to be tough me thinks. And I have no ideea about the screen.

Recently installed a head unit, splits & 6x9's in to a 380 plat. Being an alpine head unit there was the option to connect the bluetooth and the steering wheel controls to it, althoug the owner didnt wish for this to be done.

If you have the premium sound pack (which i think you would, having the bluetooth) you need to order the double din faceplate for the console from mitsubishi, and also source a lower din pocket if you wish to keep it free.

The LCD still works fine! the only concern with it is a small error message displays (cant remember off the top of my head what it says) but its nothing to be worried about, and isnt too annoying either. Everything else is still completely functional. :)

Good luck with the install mate!

Couldnt you just buy a line out converter to connect your amp/sub? Thats what I have done in my TL as I did not want to sacrifice my factory six stacker. I was under the impression that people where doing this more and more now with most factory units being integrated.

Yeah, but that would be too easy - i like being difficult :P

- Yeah i considered that but i've decided to chuck a double din screen in. which will lead to getting better speakers, reverse camera, and maybe even gps later down the track.
And i've already got my subs, amp and stacker from my magna that i want to put in.

I was pretty tame with my tj magna with stereo mods, but the 380 will be a different story.
