You might be lucky to get a magnaflow muffler for $200 alone not even a system. For $200 you MIGHT be able to get a cheap autobarn mild steel cannon and half a catback system with no resonators or anything.. double that amount and you'll be getting realistic.

Yeah, for under $200 I would be thinking of just replacing the rear muffler. Grab a Ralliart muffler off the forums, or one of the many cheapo chromed up ones off eBay.

Get the rear muffler replaced with a straight through unit and a shiney new tip. That should make it sounds a little more beefy, and save you the 800 of extractors and exhaust for the sake of 2kw.

I had a quote once to get the rear muffler changed for a free flow one for $110.

That or you can just saw the whole thing off after the cat:P

I'm looking to do close to that...

I still to get her up on the hoist to have a proper sticky, but provided the rear muffler is flanged onto the rest of the system, I'll get an exhaust shop to make up an identical flange with a pipe coming from it, and replace the muffler with that.

Should be a good indicator of how it goes w/o rear muffler, and is easy to return to factory (provided there IS a flange from factory!)

I'll be sure to post vids & sound files if/when I do it.

I got my cat back systen for $385 But alot of people just get the rear muffler removed, would probably end up sounding similar..i think.

I recently had the rear muffler replaced with a straight-through muffler on my TJ wagon - and it's loud enough now (nice growl / burble). I certainly wouldn't want to remove the rear muffler completely.

Personally, I believe the sound of a car can add significantly to the driving experience. I am enjoying driving my Magna more, now that the exhaust sounds better ;-)

It cost me $175 at my local exhaust shop (included some mods to the existing exhaust mounts to provide more clearance for the recently installed rear Whiteline swaybar).

Cheers,
Martin.

I recently got a Berkley straight through muffler fitted for $150 with 2 1/2 pipinng to the flange, so that in the future if i want a cat back its just the middle piping.
It sounds awesome when opening it up,and everyone who thought i was tripping wanting to put a zorst on a magna were very impressed.
would post a sound clip but my car is broken at the moment:cry:

Edit: I see u are in SA, if you live anywhere near woodville/kilkenny way, i recommend you go to Carline at Kilkenny, where i got mine done, good bloke, bit of a yobbo but didnt take long and does good work.

While we're plugging people in SA (around woodville area) I recommend the guy on the corner of port rd and south rd - not sure of the name. It's the yellow building next to the carwash.

He fitted a muffler for me (I supplied) for $100, and did a straight thru pipe on my old car for $50.

Yeah, there was a bit of work involved - it didnt just line up with the existing piping.

2kw ontop of a stock magna which is more power than your little charade makes. Jason, you're such a pessimist these days and you know very well the reason behind extractors so don't make out like they do bugger all - for those of us who don't cheat with hairdryers its a great power speader. Now go tune someones cappichino biatch.

ok i would just ask another question...

if i get say a cannon, or a tip...do i sit it below my rear bar, or do i cut out a bit of the rear bar to fit it and make it look better :S?

alsoo anyone know where to get the lil peice of plastic to cover the tow bar slot?
