Hi everyone, time has come for a new work car and i want to get a 2nd gen verada. Main thing i want is power windows and climate control... Is an XI the only way to get climate control? It appears that from photos ive seen that this is the case. If it is is it possible to get the climate control unit and put it in and it works? Has anyone done this?

climate control came out in the elites and verada's (not 100%, but pretty sure)
also i have the climate control unit but i am waiting on all the parts for it, solar sensor and other shiz. so yeh if anyone has put it in before let me know too.:D

Correct. The elites and all veradas (bar some very early models) had climate control. Essentially it's pretty obvious to tell if its there or not so it's not something you wont notice when you buy a car, and it's only an issue if you look at a pre 93 verada (i think).
How easy is it for a retrofit of the climate control gear into an exec?

Not overly easy. Parts you would need (may not be all of them, just a rough guess):
"Climate control" control panel
Solar temp senser on dash
Cabin temp senser on roof
Climate control unit #1 near ECU
Climate control unit #2 behind control panel
And finally so it dont look like a POS you need the space that sits where the diamante cup holders are.
The most traumatic bit would be all of it. Essentially the dash need to come out and the roof lining need to come off.

im not afraid of taking the dash out as i've don it twice before.

Hey with the climate control, does the fan automatically slow down if the cabin has reached the desired temp on the screen (or dial)?
I left mine with full AC (not eco) on, both selections AUTO (as in fan speed and direction) and it went super cold in the cabin, but the ac or fan didn't reduce it's speed... hmmm
Hope my sensors aren't buggered

I know that if I slowly turn my temp dial up the fan slowly turns down until i pass the cabin temp then they start going again with the heater......so yes.

Hmm that's true so i guess it works :D
But yeah, back to the question, if you wanted to put the digital climnate in, I'd say go to the wreckers and pick out all those goodies from a Verada :)
Would be great to see this done.

Well sort ....
The KR models, only thXI cane wt CC, he EI did not hav CC
The TR ELite and ALL KS verada had CC
Fitting is not that hard you do need to source a wreck as the heater/ac bx also needs changing due to the controllers on the boxes. You will need to de gas your air con to change as well.
It may be poss to fit the controllers onto the non CC boxes but it would not be the most ideal fitting.
