They measured this beast and it came out to a staggering 1558.97RMS @ 4Ohm and 1304.08RMS @ 2Ohm. Similar amp was tested such as the Kicker 1200.1 which only did 1150.60RMS @ 1Ohm, and Rockford RFP-1501bd putting out only 1412.61RMS @ 2Ohm. JL kills the competition in terms of 'bang for ya bucks'.

Take special note,

1000 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm - 4 ohm (11V-14.5V)

Meaning it will produce more than 1kw at any of those impedances (between 1.5 and 4 ohms), and also anywhere from 11-14.5v will still make at least 1kw. Other brands measure their output at 14.4v; which you will almost never be able to constantly power an amp at 14v in an automotive application. (more realistically 12-13.5v) Meaning, you will never get full rated power out of them.

They get more at 4ohm because JL's have a regulated power supply so limit the output as you load it down to protect it.
Amps with unregulated supplys put out more as you lower the impedance.

Jl slash series amps are good.

I just sold a Rockford 1001BD for $300 which did 500wrms at 4 ohm and 1000wrms at 2 ohm

What impedance woofers are you going to be running off it?

i have no idea, i'm slowly building my stereo, have my old deck ready to go in, just bought to buy a amp for front splits off here, then maybe buy that amp.

at that price is it good value for money? this would be over $1000 brand new right?

i was thinking maybe buying 2 soundstream subs to go with the amp, will handle the punches ;)

man this is all gonna cost me alot :P

*Edit* maybe get it cranking 2 soundstream t4-12's? 900W RMS subs, so should get just about the right wattage if the amp can go higher than 1kW, so i'm not overloading the subs or anything

T4's are dual 1.3 ohm i think, so something to think about there. Shouldnt be too much of a concern running 2 of them though, should get a few configs.

Also @900wrms, you wont get to fully power both subs from that amp mate.

Two of the RFW 12's would run ricely off that amp.

well i saw another listing with it for $1050 brand new, whereas this has been installed, run, etc etc, plus pickup isnt available, so i think i'll leave it for now, tho it did look and sound nice :( ah well, i'll get my 1kW one of these days :P
