Hi,

Has anyone ever replaced the factory fitted fog lights with an alternative? In particular, has anyone fitted driving lights done there?

There is a big difference in driving lights and fog lights, make sure you know what you are referring to as many like to say fog lights are driving lights which is wrong.

Nexus,

Yes I do know the difference between fog lights and driving lights. I'm after better lighting for country driving than the standard parabolics offer without destroying the look of the vehicle by bolting an extra set on the front!
Yes, my lights have all been fitted with Vision Pluses and no I don't drive in the city with my fog lights on saying "look at me". I too, get peed off with the glare!

Parabolic highbeams suck badly. You could fit a set of Hella FF50's in the spot where your fogs originally were, they are a pencil beam design so you would get a bit more range.

Mounting driving lights that low is not ideal though...

I have a set I'm not using (I got comet 500s that are going on a unibar on the front - hehe) if you are interested - RRP is $200, I'd probably let them go for half of that.

Cheers

ok I'm confused by the difference between driving and fog lamps. Can either of them be turned on while driving under normal cirumstances? or is it just everyone driving illegally with them on?

Fog lamps can only be used when foggy, driving lights follow the same rule as high beams, can only use them with no traffic around or if there's a car more than 200m in front i think it is? Also i believe they legally have to be attached to the same switch as the high beams.
The law is excess lighting, if the light isn't suppose to be on, you can get nailed for it.
