Last Thursday evening Today Tonight ran a story on a guy whose engine had seized, and the car was under warranty. The guy had his serviced by a Independent Licensed Mechanic, but the Dealership concerned has refused to cover the cost under warranty, as they believe the incorrect engine oil was used to that recommended by the Car Manufacturer
This is the link regarding the story: http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com/article/38375/general/making-motor-oil

I use Shell Helix Plus 15W - 50.

What engine oil do you use in your car?

Penrite HPR 15, 15W 40
or Penrite Synthetic 5.

HPR 15 is a 15W-60 oil, Its damn thick.
I was using this while the stem seals were gone, made no real change.
My mech went nuts at me for using such a thick oil in my car, and now i use magnatec, or something in the 10w range.
Car rev's alot more easily now

HPR10 in the newer motors, HPR15 in the older ones.

Anyone who states that HPR15 is too thick in an older engine is simply an idiot and should do some basic training on how oil acts, especially when hot.

Many people I do services for have commented on the better feel of the engine with the Penrite.

I forget what i use... something that's cheap

How much is HPR15 for a 5L bottle? I think I use a mobil oil, 20w50.. From memory.. speaking of which i think its time for an oil change when i can grab some new plugs next..

awesome, now we got opposite opinions.
ive only heard good stuff about penrite but what do u consider to be an 'older' motor and a 'newer' motor? eg. 1994 2.6L 4 cyl is old or new?
cheers big 4

my stem seals are crap so it puts oil out the exhaust under idle. i still use magnatec 10w-40. is it bad using such thin oil in a our cars. two friends said that it could damage the engine but i think its a bunch of baloni(sp)

I use good old valvoline 20w50 and the Pro-ma MBL8 Concentrate which makes the oil perform 100 times better than any other oil alone.

Guaranteed proof of product performance is here http://tinyurl.com/2duhxq scroll down a bit and view the demonstration, only takes 3 minutes and 15 seconds to watch. Can be used with any motor oil and only adds AUS$8.45 extra per oil change for a four cylinder engine.

So Pro-ma products are still available. I bought a 200ml bottle general lubricant probably 15-20 yrs ago when I visited my friend in Adelaide. I still have it and use it, as you don't need to use very much. I have not seen Pro-ma products in Sydney.

Are their products available through automotive stores?

No, all Pro-ma products are only available through independent distributors. I think it's crazy but they won't leave the multi level marketing model and distributors don't want it to change because they cannot compete with the convinience of a store. If you want to purchase the MBL8 Concentrate visit http://search.ebay.com.au/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZraulitech and click on one or more of the items to purchase online. It's hard to get people to be interested in this but when you visit http://tinyurl.com/yqt44o scroll down and watch the short demonstration product you can then understand its the best product ever for your engine.

Rauli

Oil additives are rubbish, you honestly think an oil company will invest billions of dollars into an oil only for a 2c company to come along and "make it better"?

I have in the past uses Wynns for cleaning etc, with some reasonable results, the thing is however a car which is used as a street car, has regular services etc will not need these often damaging additives.

The additive company can not account for every additive in a standard oil thus where say in Magnatec it may be ok, in say Penrite it may have an oppersite effect.

If additives were so good, the aviation industry would not have banned the use of all additives

For the most part that is absolutely true and I used to believe that. Once I tried the Nulon telfon additive in a holden commodore I used to drive and I smelt burning plastic coming out of the exhaust and my big end bearing apparently was stuffed after that. But one day I did some computer work for a guy who sells pro-ma products initially I declined to be demonstrated the MBL8 saying additives are rubbish but he insisted. The demo only took a couple minutes and I could not believe what I was seeing. Then he repeated the demo with the MBL grease and the wd40 substitute MBL3 penetrating lubricant spray and I was convinced.

You can see the same demo of the MBL8 oil additive at http://tinyurl.com/yqt44o just scroll down a bit then come back and tell me what you think. This takes less than 3 minutes and 15 seconds to watch. The MBL Grease demo is here too which is even more impressive and takes the same time to watch at http://tinyurl.com/2kc8ew

Seriously, check them out it will blow your mind! These products have been sold since 1930 and Pro-ma has a public liability policy which guarantees these products will not cause any harm when used as directed. I've been using this for 15,000+kms and know it works even saving me 10% in fuel when highway driving. I also use the PT5 which reduces fuel consumption even further.
