Phew got my TL back from my gas fitter mate..
He did a superb job i am happy with it....!!
Runs suprisingly well on LPG with a slight loss in the top end. But general driving duties it feels great...!!
System is from Parnell....using Poliauto converter and fuel processor...

i find it strange that the convertor is so far away from the mixer
most of the time they keep it close as possable
your timing belt just got more expencive to replace
but the cheeper fuel would cover that in the long run
you can buy units that advance the timing for lpg to give better topend
its a pitty the unit wont work on petrol as well as its a different curve

Dont think you can fit the converters anywhere else though they are big that model will run up to 250hp engines though.
Starts on petrol everytime then switches over to gas......much better for cold starts...!!
The timing belt.....hmm yeah i see what your saying but the unit will swing out the way if you undo the liquid gas line.........easy...not due for a little while yet anyways...

I like what they have done excluding the underbonnet work.
Things to take note of.
Bunched up wire that has been cable tied. (Couldnt they cut it to the correct length)
Coverter is resting on the body work see location where engine mount is. ( This may cause the odd knock here and there)
Main gas feed into engine. Why didnt they past it under the manifold or behind the manifold?
Also its quite a distance away from the throttle body. I wonder if this will have any adverse affects.
Would have been good to have the converter on the otherside of the engine bay but as mentioned there may be limited space.
No offence to you but the installer could have done a better job on it.
Before i got my paj converted i had the opportunity to look at two others that my installer had done. I took note of certain things that i didnt like about his install. When my turn came i mentioned to the installer what i didnt like about his work and i suggested two different things to him and how i would prefer things to be. Eg change over switch location, Wiring under the bonnet. There was one other thing but i cant recall it now. When i picked up my vehicle he went through it with me and identified what i had asked for. In the end it was a neat install for me.
Either way enjoy the savings. I enjoy spending 25 bucks a week running my pajero compared to 50bucks previously.
Regards

The cable was left long as he did not want to cut and solder any wires he really didn't have to, as the harnesses are pretty much one piece, which is valid......besides i could cut the cable ties and hide it if it bugs me and well.....it doesn't really at this stage...(and i am an auto sparky too).
The parnell kits get tested on road for at least 12 months before they go out to the public and also the only use poliauto converters in their conversion kits. The converter just wont fit on the other side close to the ABS controller.
As for the long vapour feed line i did ask him about it and he spoke to the main man at Parnells about it. They can go to 3 feet in length without problems in starting and driveability. That coupled with the lambda fuel processor and the specific idle circuit in the converter makes it a very reliable package.
Feeding it under the plenum????.....nope dumb idea....i would rather see it and pick up leaks and worn hoses than having it hidden. The converter is touching the body and i will keep an eye on it if there is any wear on the converter body I will get him to lift it up...
As it is he had to slightly rearrange the air cond pipe to clear the converter by adding a spacer.
So yeah pretty much what you see here is a kit designed by a company with over 20 years experience in LPG conversions, not a conversion done with separate parts picked off a supplier catalog and whacked in...the latter would turn me off the idea completely....

How does consumption go e.g 12.7L per 100km fuel
???L per 100km gas

haven't done a full tank of barbie gas yet.....the inst. fuel is screwed on LPG (i figured as much) and the avg fuel at the moment is showing 17L/100km which may be close..
So about 400kms for $30 or so fill??.....not bad....!!

Is quite impressive. how does excelleration compare to fuel. Is performance reduced for cheaper ecconomy, if so by wat degree

Acceleration is a bit down but under 3000rpm its pretty good above that it is a little flatter...not bad though as the missus doesn't pedal it too hard anyways...
Takes a little while to settle switching from LPG to petrol as it still has a gutful of gas to consume first...
needs a little rev to clear it's throat and we are off.....!!

Had my TJ done about 16 mths ago, 64 lts is the max I can get into my tank and get around 450klm around town.
Touch wood had no problems with the gas, with mine I dont notice any power lost and it idles better on the Gas.

It seems to me that the avg fuel on lpg does turn out quite accurate, i know its used to determine fuel burnt, however it seems at this stage of 2 months of monitoring, that it works on lpg.

If you could PM your VIN number i'll find out from AMCAP if they are available as the missus is pretty keen on a boot trim of sorts....!!!
Thanks a bunch...!!

I ordered the kit in December....through a good mate of mine. Fitted Early March..
He did go over to Melbourne for training and while he was there he actually packed my kit as well as a few others...more than 20 in total.
He was kind enough to do the conversion for 3K so my cost was $0 but he did say these kits will be $3500 in the future. Hardware costs have gone up in the last 2 months and i'll be honest the kits COST him $2600 or so....
The kit is for TE to TL before 1 dec 2004, after that you need a emission certified kit (read SVI) and they haven't got a AVI kit made just yet....

I too would like to know where you can get the moulded LPG tank cover from.
I did a search a few months ago without any luck.

I just got my TL AWD converted, and would also be interested in getting carpet mould to hide the tank. Anyone know where it can be bought?
