Just ordered this kit
Just wondering is this everything needed to overhaul the carbie?
Does anyone have workshop manual for this?

And does the carbie need a tune after this or is it good to go?

Thanks

Just ordered this kit

And you can still afford Internet access? :p (the one I picked up about 2 years ago was almost $100...)

Just wondering is this everything needed to overhaul the carbie?

Not exactly *everything* (depending on the kit you bought), but should be sufficient :-)

Does anyone have workshop manual for this?

Mitsu workshop manual (not Gregories, etc) - I have the TR-TS one (2nd Gen), and can get you the relevant pages if you need. Wish I had even that when I did mine (although I got by)...

And does the carbie need a tune after this or is it good to go?

Probably the air mixture will need adjusting. You should also check the correct operation of all vacuum, etc, circuits with a vacuum pump/gauge. Definitely clean out the air filter canister, and fit a new element. Check the EGR reed - it's probably screwed by now. Filter the PCV (crankcase ventilation) line to stop oil from entering the fuel intake (I didn't do this to my carb'ed TP, nor have I to my current EFI one, but Magnabuff assures me most 1st-genners on the forum have, and that it's a good idea - use a plastic fuel filter).

My honest opinion? Scrap the idea, and convert to EFI. Cost will probably not be over what you'll pay for the overhaul kit (and the $100 or so for the vacuum tester/pump, and the new vacuum line and other incidentals, etc, etc, which you'll wind up needing), and the EFI setup is easier to work with and provides an extra ~10kw (although the EFI models were fitted with different gearing, but this shouldn't be any real issue). Magnabuff, I believe, has the rail, injectors (although yellow - 2nd gen blue tops are better) and manifold/s available. The Magna carb and emission control setup, being probably about the last in existence, is a complicated pig of a setup - very difficult to get right. I managed it, but not until I'd spent months perfecting it - and removing much of the (legally required) emission control stuff...

Good luck :-)

Cheers,
Mattt.

The kit was $66
And I got it today, just seems like a whole lot of gaskets

The car is a run around so I can't be stuffed modifying or converting anything.
Just a bit more power and more fuel economy would be great

Other than that... when it breaks down on the side of the road, is when I buy another run around

But so far *knock on wood*
5000km since I got it and not a single problem with it (Bar lack of power, and only 350ish km to a tank)

The kit did come with an exploded view of the carbie so hopefully it'll be alright

Did you try the thermostat?

No I haven't...
It always reaches halfway and sits there
Doubt it would be the thermostat?

Though, might change both when I do the carbie overhaul

want my whole overhauled carby cheap?

i'm putting another carby on my motor as the stocko one cannot supply enough fuel for my motor.
