View Full Version : Aircon + Idling

I remember reading this somewhere but for the life of me can't find it via thread search.

The whole time I've had my KS when I turn the aircon on, the idle will rise about 200rpm higher until I turn it off. Following my problems with stalling/idling in an earlier thread (2nd gen forum), when I turn on the aircon now the idle DROPS 200rpm and I risk stalling.

When the aircon does not automatically cause idle to rise, what is this a sure sign of? I know someone knows because I read it before previously!!!

My TR's idle speed when in gear with aircon drops to around 400-500rpm... if I put it in neutral it stops shaking and idles at around 800rpm.

But my rpm's have NEVER gone up as I turn the aircon on.

The RPM should rise.

If it doesnt then it's quite possible your ISC motor has gone.

I used to have a page on how to test it...but I cant find it.

www.nardek.com.au has them..but I think you can get them cheaper elsewhere.

Hey KB I had tested ISC to be working last weekend (when the idling had a major case of parkinsons), but today I gave it a clean as it was quite dirty, and this time it failed the Nardek test. I have fired them an email to quote a price but was wondering where you have seen them cheapest? Thanks.

Umm do a seach on here for ISC motors.

I think Mal (madmagna) knew of a place that was cheaper than Nardek.

IIRC Nardek are 250, they are a genuine mitsu part too. Buy it from Mitsu and it's 480!!!

I had to replace mine a while ago, it fixed the problem straight away.

I can get them from Bursons for the low 100 dollar mark exchange. I have done a few now and never had any problems with these ones.

The idle should rise slightly with the aircon on.

my car idles at about 900-1000rpm
but as soon as i flick my a/c on, it drops to about 500rpm and my TR goes wack

is this normal

Thanks for the help guys; I visited Burson's on the way to work and picked up a new ISC motor (aftermarket) for $104.50; took me about 15mins to fit it in the carpark.

Idle is now higher since I moved it higher to compensate for the faulty one; I will readjust tonight. Good sign is that idle will rise about 50rpm instead of dropping 200rpm when a/c is on; idle is definately smoother now.

butiful mate,
glad to see you have it all fixed now.
These things tend to be a bit feeble lol
