id stick with pioneer, eclipse and alpine, but mostly pioneer and alpine, great quality, easy to use and look pretty good more often than not, and 350 will get you a pretty decent one from either of them brands... ive never liked kenwood or sony stuff, its cheap and nasty imo... but yeh, go to the stores i sad before and have a browse, play with a few and see which one you like and is easy to use etc.... our taste etc may be totally different to yours so you just gotta get out there and see what YOU like...
good luck,
tom

PM him about it
I'd get a Pioneer 4200MP
It's a double-DIN size with CD, MP3, cassette tape (yes!!), and AM/FM radio.
All in a nice silver finish.
Has white-LED text and the usual "dancing lights" graphic equalizer settings.
Available around $450 -- check www.ryda.com.au
and also on E-Bay
It's a great head unit, I had it in my TJ VR-X and it made the stock speakers sound so much better. This head unit also has a lot of adjustments, so that you can tailor the sound exactly the way you want......

I just recently bought a Pioneer DEH-P6850MP. $429 at strath. (i got it for $405 at autobarn).
Imo, great unit for price.
Mp3, motorised face, aux inputs, ipod ready (if you're into that stuff), OEL display, 3 sets of 4-volt pre outs (front, rear, non fading/sub), battery voltage guage, comes with remote, and most importantly -7 band EQ (which i couldnt find on any other units for this price range).
Theres stacks of other features, those are the ones that stand out to me and are the reason i bought the thing. You wont be disappointed for the price.
:D
