Hi guys...

Just trying to gather some ideas/inspiration for some new interior mods.

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.. if theres a mod you'd like to see done to a 2nd gen interior(within reason) post the idea and i'll go from there.

Right now i'm pretty dry for ideas myself. I think some sort of custom parcel shelf is on the cards, along with a new pair of rear speakers.

Also, i know this has probably been answered before (sorry), but how is the fitment of 3rd gen seats into a 2nd gen? Will the stock 3rd gen rails work?

Right now i'm still trying to save a bit of cash (yes first year wages suck balls...), so hopefully i should have some new mods in the making in the near future.

Cheers people.

Mod #1.

Started making up a couple of mounts for the tweeters. Pic is just a test fit. Still needs to be smoothed and trimmed in vinyl. (sorry about the poor quality pic)

On a side note, who (out of 2nd gen owners) has 6.5" speakers in their front doors, and how did you mount them. Any help on that would be awesome!

Looking good so far. You should try for a whole custom interior or try your hardest to try and get a 3rd gen interior into a 2nd gen, thatd be cool:cool:

Lookin' good mate. What did you do that in? Fibreglass?
Keep going like that and you'll have a sweet customised Magna interior.

As for 6.5" speakers in front... I've got them (sitting behind the Verada door pods). Not sure how they're mounted tho. I didn't fit them, but I did undo one trim for something else and I think they're mounted between the door trim and the Verada pod.

Yeh trying for full custom i think mate.. seems like the way to go. As for 3rd gen interior... might be more trouble than its worth. It'd be pretty pricy to get one, and besides.. the 2nd gen interiors have aged very well.

Puck, yeh its made out of fibreglass. I've got the verada pods/pockets and i had trouble fitting 6"s in there . Are you using the plastic bit that goes onto the door metal, or are the speakers just bolted directly to the metal?

Magnaexec, very good job there. And thanks for the pics for ideas; although everything that i can see thats customised in your interior, i have already customised in mine in some fashion.... except the pedals, which i might do now! Thanks! :D

Are you using the plastic bit that goes onto the door metal, or are the speakers just bolted directly to the metal?I just picked up some 6"s, need to get back to the wreckers to see where exactly the holes are cut in the trim (before I undo mine), the 6"s I have don't fit neatly into the plastic bit the stock ones sat in, but with a bit of trimming of the plastic (top half of back, bottom half has enough room) I think they should fit fine.

From how I remember the wreck I got my pods from, the plastic bits bolted to the door metal (don't forget to get the little white bits that they screw to, stock doors don't have them), then there was a larger hole cut in the trim for them to stick through, then the pods screwed to the trim to cover them. Don't think there is any interaction between the speakers and the pods/trim themselves.

No theres not.

Was just wondering if the 6.5"s can be bolted directly to the door metal; without using that plastic dome mount that screws to the door.

_x_FiReStOrM_x_ ,
If ya really get stuck, we could possibly meet up somewhere.
Take a look at mine if ya wish.
I live out of town (Ballarat) but work in town (IBM). Maybe one day during the week?
Up to you.
