hey peoples, iv just done my noodle in thinking about load ratings for 3 and 4 subs... now if i had 4 dual 2ohm subs i could load that down to 1ohm right?.... now i was thinking what if i had 3 subs... how would i go about creating a 1 or 2 ohm load? which leads me to my next question... if i had 3 subs of the same specifications (lets say 3 type R's) could you run 2 dual 4's and a dual 2? im guessing yes cos all the coil configuration of the sub has to do with it is the final load rating? please dont ask "why would you want 4 subs???" i just do ok lol

if you have 4 dual 4ohm subs and wire them in parallel that would give you 2ohms
if you only had two dual 4's then you'll end up with a 4ohm load parallel or 1ohm load if each sub it wired up as 2ohm the joined at the amp creating a 1ohm load
with the dual 2's i think you can only wire up two together but i may be wrong

basically i want to know how i can end up with a 1 ohm load with 4 woofers, using my excellent skills of deduction i shoe horned four dual 2 subs to give me a 1 ohm load, but im not sure... can you wire them in parralel and then in to series? ie... 4 dual 2's wired in series to give 4ohms.... then from there wire in parralel to give 2x 2 ohm loads, then parralel them again for a final of 1ohm load..... if that makes sence.... i might just get 4 dual 4's and 2 monoblocks to save some hassle lol.... so yeh, what would you guys think of 4 type r's and two monoblocks, say dd m1a's (1200rms at 1ohm) :D

if you get 4 dual 2's wire them up in parrallel will give you a 1ohm load
this should help

i know its rockford, but its the same deal
hope this helps :D

mixing and matching voice coils will mean the subs have different TS specs, and the lower impedance sub will see more power than the other one, result will be bulk cancellation, rooted sq, and general silliness :)
