Okay, I know there are fuel consumption threads, I posted in one or two of em with my wagon.
This one is more an insight for myself, so I know if I am correct, not having a fuel guage is difficult.
Fuel tank: 64L
Avg fuel consump: 12L/100km
64L/12L= 5L
5Lx100km= 500kms of fuel
500kms-50L of ambient fuel use (traffic lights, warm up)= 450kms
so, atm I have used 270.5, so therefore I should have 180 more kms.
Am I correct to think this?
Thanks

yeah well, 12L/100kms, is saying, engine is in fair condition and has been serviced and all.
it should be around 11/12L area, all i really wanna know is if the math i've done is viable.

now thats intresting that first owners havent put up fuel figures
not good at math
so first gen owners only
as suggested please take time out to make a calculation
lets say over one tank full
post relevent vehicle you have etc and how many kms you got
model ie TN ..TP
make ie glx se elite
body sedan or wagon
carby
EFI
Manual
Auto
tank size
lts /km
see what comes up
thanks for reading

okay, well I answered my own question today.
with 371.1kms on the odo I refulled at shell.
I filled the tank with 52.27L
so, lets do the math
64L tank - 52.27L = 11.73L
So therefore my avg of 12L/100kms is almost correct. on city roads
I can recieve around 473kms out of a full tank of petrol.
after today also, i will have a highway answer, as I averaged 98km/h today and used near the same amount of fuel as what I put in, i will be filling up with a few more ks on the clock, but the math will be the same.
When i had my TP (manual) i kept a spread sheet of fuel economy figures out of interest, this was mostly doing highway driving with some big hills to go up and down.

that's mad, you had the advantage of a manual, and glx there.
my wagon would be diff again, well, course it would now, but stock standard it would be different also. i think the wagon averages 13.5L/100kms

My TP sedan averages about 13.5L/100k, which to me I find pretty disappointing... I have just replaced the TPS, AFM and coil/power transistor today though, and it seems to have improved many of the problems it was having, so hopefully it might actually improve now :)

try new leads, new spark plugs, check dizzy and rotor, also replace the oil, fuel filter and air filter.
had most of those things done to my elite, did wonders.

I keep the tires pretty hard. Mine is a manual wagon and gets around the 10's/100. In the 12's or 13's you're better off to ditch it for a cheap commodore. No point burning that much fuel to lope around in a 4cyl magna when hooning around in a RWD V6 3.8 uses about the same.

I get around 10.5 in my EFI TP and that is with ladders on and being driven like a bat out of hell by yours truly. In town or country it still gets the same no matter how or where it is being driven. And i never service the thing and i would have no idea if there were tyres on there let alone what pressure they were!
I had a old TP Carbie wagon, and that used to return about 15 no matter how i drove it. But when you drive it into the country i used to get about 9 - 10...

Already done every one of those ;)
Brand new top gun leads, NGK Iridium IX plugs, new dissy cap and rotor, fuel filter done a few months ago, air filter is a K&N filter. Oil I will be changing soon, when I have time to completely clean and flush the oil system...
