No wonder it was slipping. How did the flywheel look??? if the pressure plate is that bad - it probably wouldn't have hurt to machine the flywheel.

the flywheel was acutally had no marks on it at all we were quite suprised when we took it apart, it wasn't shuddering anyway

I don't know about being as bad as yours....... but mines pretty "agressive"...... it's an excedy, sprung centred, 5 puck ceramic button clutch with a modified pressure plate which exerts approx 2 tonne of clamping pressure.

Found that I had to upgrade the engine mounts to get the best out of this clutch.

Two clutches, 3 months, 2.4 litre engine? Don't you smell the clutch constantly if you treat it that badly?

If you're easy with the clutch with take-offs and gear changes there shouldn't be any problem. As long as you don't send sudden shocks through the drive line i.e. dumping the clutch or slamming gears.

why wouldnt u buy a chunky clutch then if u didnt wanna change gears better ? defeats the purpose

Whats a clutch got to do with changing gears better? That's all to do with gearbox.

People do tend to upgrade their clutches when the stock one can no longer hold the power they are making (i.e it would slip under the new power), not just to chirp gears.:P

So it doesn't mean just because you have a clutch that can take allot of power, you now must destroy your gearbox!!!lol

As many have said previouslly, your clutch is your fuse in the drivline. Once you remove that fuse you have to drive more carfully so you don't break the next weakest item down the line, usally a diff and/or gearbox.
