ok i have been asking about intake resonators and the 'mcormacks install' thingo,
i just went out to my car before, and i took the top resonator off...
then i had a look and i realised hte bottom one was conntected to my air box?
if i take it off, what happens, i also realised there is another resonator looking thingo attached to the bottom of my air intake thing lol
sorry if u get confused by my heaps tachnical terms such as thingo....:P
so i better actaully ask something....so i take both top and bottom resonator thingo's off....?

Short answer: yes
Long answer: hell yes
If you only take one of it hardly sounds different, especially if you only take off the small one.

backk, took it off, far out it was heaps hard trying to get hte bottom one out!
umm neways should i notice a difference in sound while being parked....or do i have to be on hte move?
anyway, also what sound am i lookin for lol?
you won't notice any sound just revving the engine.
you will DEFINATELY hear it while the engine is on load (as in driving). just give the car a bit of a squirt around the block and you should be hearing a "wrx-sounding exhaust" note coming from your engine (IMO anyway).
give it a shot.

You'll hear a nice rumble coming from the engine, just roll the window down, drop it down a gear and give it a bit of boot... When you hear it, you will know... then you will need a fresh change of pants :P

Is there any benfit doing this? Or are you only doing it for the sound.

I think a whiloe back someone said there was a tiny incy wincy drop in torque (ie only noticable because he dynoed it) below 2000rpm and a 5nm gain at the top end...don't really beleive it but who knows. Otherwise yer its just for sound/rice.

i have done this mod then reversed it, then done it again, both pre and post s/c
although the awd only has one resonator unlike the fwd models....
and i can say i have noticed no increase/decrease in power and/or noise
the only difference i have noticed is the under bonnet appearance lol
i have to say though if they weren't necessary why would mitsu go to the effort of putting them on there in the 1st place, although in saying that i don't have mine fitted...

I removed the two resonators on the 90 degree bend just before the throttle body once on my TF. Didn't notice any difference in performance, but the induction sound did change. I noticed a slight sort of vibrating sound (almost metallic) under hard acceleration, didn't sound good to me so I put the resonators back on the next day.
didnt notice mine instantly when i did the mod, but since, its been a lot more grumbly, much nicer note.. particularly on cold days for some reason

Well, anyone with a TL should remove the filter from the airbox and do a lap of the block -- sounds awesome...
And hope no metallic objects get sucked into the engine...
If you want it to sound nice just pull off the snorkel. Sure it will be a bit of a slug on take-off, but it will sound mean under load.

Hahaha. He's taking the intake resonators off his air column. You know those plastic "tree" like thing'ys that run from the airbox, to the engine? Removing them and replacing them with other objects (Gatorade caps are my choice :)) may or may not improve performance/sound under accceleration.
I just got a Pod filter (Blitz Stainless Steel Pod RRP $360) for $50 and whacked it on! Sounds fantastic. Also no lean out issues, but more down low power. Highly reccomended. If you can't afford the stainless steel pod, then go a K&N panel filter, or oval pod.
Anything else? :)

awww awesome ill then have a look under the bonnet. that could be scary i could break a nail heheh nah just kidding im not a girly girl. ummm i got quoted 240 to do soemthing to the exhaust system which would make it louder. I thought id just go for look first with a canon.

Circled are the two resonators.
And a cannon.... nuh-uh. They make more sound, but as for power gains, minimal. You are far better off getting a high quality muffler, and a big chrome tip for the cannon style look. Will be a tad cheaper one would imagine too. :D

I like the look of them.....alot. ive always wanted one.hmmm ill look into a muffler with tip. Hmmmm also thanks for the
picture ill have a look, so you can just remove the whole thing completely.... very interesting.

Agreed as well. I'm not a fan of cannon's on most cars (some, but only few). But I'm not going to lambaster you for your choice either. Main thing is have fun with it! :D

I reckon you shouldnt be wanting your tip to stand out if its just a cannon, best you can do i reckon is get a nice tip/dual single tips and have them sticking out of a molded rear bar.
SMOOOTH....
