Hi guys,
so far most things I have done is as a result of advice give by members of the forum, so I would like to thank you all so far before starting this one up.

I'm currently in the process of replacing my HU – it is the RX335AL AM/FM Stereo Cassette with Graphic Equalizer
This is being relaced with a Sony CDXGT-450S.

Question is should I keep the original wiring? i.e. using a wiring harness
Or should I cut the wiring and wire the head unit up that way?

Now I have gone out and purchased two wiring harness from Autobarn:
Aerpro
APP0111 Quick Connect Adapter * use with direct quick connect
APP8SP Direct Quick Connect * to Sony 12 pin plug

The issue I have is with the plug it has missing cables such as Amp Rem which I need to control to the amp for example.

If I go down the “OR” path I’ll need help determining what cable belongs to as there are two plugs at the back of the old head unit.

In this situation what would you guys suggest? Ideas would be fantastic

The head unit will be connected to:
1x Swiss Audio SMR3001A – Amplifier to run the sub
1x Swiss Audio SPL-12 - 12” Sub
1x Yokohama 4 Channel 600 Watt– Amplifier to run the main speakers (yes I know it’s Yokohama, not sure what I was thinking:nuts: )
1x pair Blitz Audio - BZC6K 6.5'' 360 Watt 2-Way Component Speaker System w/LED Light Accent
1x pair Kenwood KFC-M6935A 350 Watt 3 –Way 6x9

This is just to give you an idea of what I’m connecting up to the HU.

Thanks in advance.

if uve already bought the harness, use that. you wont already have an amp remote wire on your stock hu, you run this from the sony hu/ignition switch to your amp.

It has the rem amp wire coming from the head unit wiring harness.
The aerpro stuff has this wire missing from it.
Where or who would I do the connection to the ignition switch?
Also wouldn't this be more messy?
Thanks for the reply manifesto

Hi all,
Just to let you know, I ended up using the APP0111 Quick Connect Adapter * use with direct quick connect, however I didn't use the direct connect item.
I ended up cutting the direct quick connector off, the wires are all labled and it was really straight fwd process to wire the unit up and I ended up soldering where I could and used some connectors I picked up from bunnings.

Once I hooked everything up I neded up finding out that my sub amp has blown every fuse (3x15) which now I need to replace.

By the way the black item you can see in the pic that is used to control the audio (volume, seek, am/fm).

were the fuses blown before you wired up the amp or after?
sounds like theres are fault somewhere

Not really to sure I got it a while back from grays online, don't know if you remember HIFI supermarket? Well they closed down and the stock got sold online, so I ended up picking that item up.
I'm guessing it was already like that as I wired up another amp I have (Coustic 241SE) I doubled checked the wiring and it fired up no drama's.:D
Now I'll get the fuses and replace the amp with the swiss audio one. See what happens, hoping it's not faulty.

The boots got cables everywhere but I'm looking to clean it so the install looks neat.

I replaced the fuses and it all works fine.
I've attached a pic of the inside of the car.
