Hi guys,
so far most things I have done is as a result of advice give by members of the forum, so I would like to thank you all so far before starting this one up.

I know that this belongs in the car audio section, which I have posted it there but I haven't had anyone respond to it  so I'm not sure if people look at it. Sorry about this

I'm currently in the process of replacing my HU – it is the RX335AL AM/FM Stereo Cassette with Graphic Equalizer
This is being relaced with a Sony CDXGT-450S.

Question is should I keep the original wiring? i.e. using a wiring harness
Or should I cut the wiring and wire the head unit up that way?

Now I have gone out and purchased two wiring harness from Autobarn:
Aerpro
APP0111 Quick Connect Adapter * use with direct quick connect
APP8SP Direct Quick Connect * to Sony 12 pin plug

The issue I have is with the plug it has missing cables such as Amp Rem which I need to control to the amp for example.

If I go down the “OR” path I’ll need help determining what cable belongs to as there are two plugs at the back of the old head unit.

In this situation what would you guys suggest? Ideas would be fantastic

The head unit will be connected to:
1x Swiss Audio SMR3001A – Amplifier to run the sub
1x Swiss Audio SPL-12 - 12” Sub
1x Yokohama 4 Channel 600 Watt– Amplifier to run the main speakers (yes I know it’s Yokohama, not sure what I was thinking  )
1x pair Blitz Audio - BZC6K 6.5'' 360 Watt 2-Way Component Speaker System w/LED Light Accent
1x pair Kenwood KFC-M6935A 350 Watt 3 –Way 6x9

Also I am running 4 guage power cable, question is do I need to use the same guage power cable as the grounding cable on the amplifier? Or can I use a 8 guage?

This is just to give you an idea of what I’m connecting up to the HU. Or point me in the right direction to a tread that would assist me.

Thanks in advance. Please help, as the car is off the road at the moment.

IF your running 2 amps, run 2ga from the battery to a distribution block where it splits to 2 x 4ga, and you ground the amps with whatever power wire you run to it, so if you end up running 8ga to the amps, you ground it with the same size wire

Thanks dude I'll end up splitting the power cable via a distribution block but I'll keep the 4GA cable to the amps, just wasn't 100% sure so thanks there lol , do you have any advice on the other stuff? Harness etc...

I would probably jus cut the wires.

I mean all you need is Ground, which can you make yourself, 12v+ Constant, and ACC, the rest are speaker wires.

The remote wire you have to run anyway so thats easy (Blue wire) same with RCA's, they also have be wired up, so i mean mightaswelll just chop the wires and SOLDER them in properly

just on a side thing i now have all my cabling in the boot ready to wire to the amps and the the head unit once I work out the colour code for the wires.

Hi all,
Just to let you know, I ended up using the APP0111 Quick Connect Adapter * use with direct quick connect, however I didn't use the direct connect item.
I ended up cutting the direct quick connector off, the wires are all labled and it was really straight fwd process to wire the unit up and I ended up soldering where I could and used some connectors I picked up from bunnings.

Once I hooked everything up I neded up finding out that my sub amp has blown every fuse (3x15) which now I need to replace. Not really to sure if the fuses had gone before I got the amp or while I wired it up. As I got it a while back from grays online, don't know if you all remember HIFI supermarket? Well they closed down and the stock got sold online, so I ended up picking that item up. I'm guessing it was already like that as I wired up another amp I have (Coustic 241SE) I doubled checked the wiring and it fired up no drama's.
Now I'll get the fuses and replace the amp with the swiss audio one. See what happens, hoping it's not faulty.

The boot's got cables everywhere but I'm looking to clean it so the install looks neat.

By the way the black harness you can see in the pic that is used to control the audio (volume, seek, am/fm).
