Bro came home from work and said my car is missing under load and it was also doing it this morning.
I took it for a drive and driving really slow is fine but when pushing it a little, it misses and sounds like a wrx lol.
Happens in all gears and entire rev range.
He took it to a mechanic place as he was coming home and they told him its probably the leads. Just wanna see if anyone has had this problem and it actually was the leads that was the problem. I put new spark plugs in a week ago and i checked the angle sensor on the dizzy and there is no corrosion.

Check the leads by running the car in the dark. You will see either sparks going everywhere or a corona around the leads if that is the problem. Check the dissy cap for cracks or tracing between the points, and check that the rotor is not worn down too much. Also check the wiring connection going to the top of the dissy, and maybe put some contact cleaner on it to clean it.

my tp was having blackouts for like a split second. almost like losing power for half a second. anyway i was pointed in the direction of the dizzy plug. when i had a look , it looked fine, with no signs of dirt, dust or rust so i didnt think anything of it. a few days later it just would'nt start so this time i thought i might as well give it light sand and clean with crc, couldn't hurt anyways and my leads, spark plugs, cap and coil are pretty much new anyway. after cleaning the dizzy plug (which looked fine) it fired up straight away and no more blackouts. plus it's running better and smoother.
i know it's not the same thing as what ur bro is going through but it can't hurt to clean it out anyway (not like it's hard or time consuming or expensive) and if it makes no difference then ur no worst off than before:D

I managed to limp it to supercheap and as i was there i replaced the leads in the parking lot and now the car is running perfect again :D
They didnt have a box set but they had the leads separately. All up they were only $24 :)
If anyone wants the numbers for the leads they are
B63RI, B94RI, B84RI x2
Only thing that worries me a little is they are a little bit loose on the dizzy side.

Most likely you have air jammed under the cap. Trick is when you are pushing the leads onto the dizzy cap, put a bit of string into the lead plug cover and slide it on. Once the lead is pushed in fully, pull out the string and all the air will not push the lead loose again ;)
I had the air push one of my leads out once - coz as the car heats up, air expands... so the string trick was the only way i could stop that happening =P

Well replaced leads, inspected rotor and cap. All good.
But still it misses and carrys on load at any rpm.
Can rev it to 6k being gentle on the throtle, but any more than light throttle it just misses and back fires.
Might just take it to a mech
EDIT: didnt see this was a 1st gen section.
