I have installed a pioneer double din dvd player and at the moment the trip wire that connects to the handbrake is not connected, mainly because i don't know where the handbrake button thing is...

point being, the cable needs to hook up the positive (power) of it, but i want the screen to be on when watchin dvd's all the time so i was wondering if anyone knows to what i can hook it up to which will make it think the handbrake is on all the time.

also i'm havin issues with the antena, i'm not sure which of the wires in my car is for the antena power (thing that makes it go up and down) tried lookin at wiring diagrams but the didn't help me. I was running the stocky system out of the verada with the 4 disc changer.

any help would be great :)

hmm..can't you just hook that wire up to constant power?

as above just run constant power to it but im pretty sure it already has power just the grounding.

there was a thread in the car audio australia forums about this and also here if that heps. cant really find it.

also thought id point out it is illegal to drive and have the tv going on at teh same time

thanks for quick replies, i considered this but the wire was thicker then the rest so wasn't sure if it were to short it out, but i'll give it a go.

 yeh i know but thanks for pointing that out

you should be all fused up anyway. but it should be fine, the handbrake would just be sending a signal anyway so yeh i'm guessing it'll be ok see how u go

it should be a grouding wire
just connect it to the chassy
its to stop you watching the screen while driving
hence the reason for it to be connected to the hand brake

:stoopid: The handbrake signal is just an earthing point. So grounding that wire will let you constantly have the screen running.

It would be wiser to have a small switch that is grounded when off and wired up to the handbrake when on.

That way if you want to do the right thing you still can.

But in all honesty it is SOO dangerous driving with screens on. They are a massive distraction.

got it working thanks, now just got to figure out which wire is for the antena power...

not really planning on watching anything when driving, more for show and passengers, i learnt how distracting a screen can be with my sat nav, dvd would only be worse.
