Well a long time ago i was really keen on boosting my 2.4 Te, the idea eventually slipped away though as the money and time involved seemed to big of an effort.
Well after months of dreaming ive decided to go for it, ever since i purchased this car i have been doing my homework on my engine and what turbo kit is best for my car.
Anyways i spent some money and picked up a brand new T3 turbo with a 38mm wastegate, stainless steel 4g63 turbo manifold, BOV and a few other small things like oil lines FPR etc. The intercooler Walbro fuel pump and bosch injectors are also on there way.
Got home today after work though to find some of my goods arrived, sorry about the crappy phone pics!!

Awesome dude! You'll love it. I'm positive I'll never own a non turbod car again :D
tastey. You're going to rebuild the engine to handle boost RIGHT?

Looks like you are going to have some fun. Almost makes me want to have a 4 so its easy/easier to do.

Shutup! Everyone knows the best turbos are made by Carrett.
(ps. no thats not a typo, and yes I have it on good authority that turbos with that stamped on them do exist)
:bowrofl:

nah its no monsta turbo but then again it aint no garret either.
its an XTR T3 turbo but the price is still enough to hurt the bank lol
and yeh the engine will have some minor work done to prepare for the turbo, although there are guys out there running 2.4L eclipse's that have been charged with stock internals running about 6-8psi and have expierenced no damage but these are guys in america so who knows.
Ill be getting stronger engine mounts and changing to ARP head studs for now and later down the track i may go forged pistons and rebuild the head but im running short of money as is.
just having trouble finding someone in vic that will install an emanage!!
u should go for haltec then instead of the emanage. im sure the interceptor could do the job

Technik Tuning. Look them up or PM euro accord for contact details. They have worked on euroaccords two magna's, Wtchme's car, Clarion Magna's car and who else knows who else!

good for you mate, definatly a step in another direction not many ppl have undertaken on these forums
good luck with it, and boost is very addictive. your problem will be the ease of upping the boost unlike me as im stuck on the one setting

Thanks mate, yeh upping the boost will be a prob but hopefully 8psi should satisfy me for now lol
Thanks for the info choonga ill give them a bell tomorrow sometime, hopefully it goes smoothly.
AFAIK it will be the first boosted 4cyl 3rd gen, but there could have been others not to sure!!
Ill keep updating this thread when more progress is made which should not be to long!!

man it will be far to tempting to not raise the boost..ull understand when u get the turboi in..good luck with the turbo tho..i hope it goes well.....
in my 180sx started off at 8psi,then 12psi..then sat on 18psi for a while then cranked it up to 24psi even for a while..needless to say there were some serious ponies when 24psi was being hit...
fun, dangerously quick and well worth it..it literally felt liek being kicked in the back then it hit 24psi...
although i dont recommend putting 24psi into urs..

TBuTcher on these forums once had a turbo 2.4 3rd gen, not that it's important.
What is important is that you keep us updated on progress as this looks like a very interesting project. Good luck with it dude. :P
Looks good, never believed you when you had it written in your sig months ago.
Like I said in a previous thread, I'd be interested to see how these turn out since the engine is a lot lighter and similar or smaller sized nissan engines are putting out excessive amounts of power. My bet is on the gearbox going bang before the engine.

lol okay then. Good to see someone learnt something from my experience.
So where exactly are you with this project?? Still collecting parts or is the car in the shop yet (or are you doing the install yourself?). Would love to see progress shots of the build.

im still gathering everything i need but i pretty much have it all except the downpipe which i think may need to be custom built.
But once my fuel upgrades arrive ill be taking the car down to my mates workshop and then he will take over, but he cant tune an emanage so i need find some mobile tuner that can come and finish the job.
And Tuffy i was thinking the same thing :bowrofl:

there are only so many turbos i would buy off ebay, most of them are dodgey and i would stay away from them like the monsta turbos etc.
I spent $750US on my turbo and my intercooler only cost me $250 from just jap, but there are some decent 2nd hand turbos around also, it really depends how much cash you have!!
If you really want to go down this path mate let me know and ill give you the hook up!!

Change rod bolts too! There's a company at Morpeth near Newcastle called Argo. They can make you some tougher rods. Also a Chev rod may fit in nicely and/or offer some decompression.
A trip to the wreckers today indicated that a 65mm throttle body of a 3rd gen V6 will bolt up to your manifold as it would also do to a 12v 3L V6 motor.

Yeh i understand that the 65mm TB will fit so if you have any laying around which im sure you do consider it sold, yeh i will be changing rod bolts down the track, ive been speaking with a few 2.4 eclipse boys and they have given me some good info regarding internal parts and what will fit etc!!
But yeh EZ let me know mate!!

I can get ANY 3rd gen tb you need. What vac lines do you have working atm? A,E,P? Probably just "P". Cruise?
I hope this thing stops in time! I find it hard to stop a magna as is...
But goodluck on your project! Always had an interest on this idea!

Hey mate,
the progress has been slowed down because i was advised not to go ahead without getting forged internals. I was advised by two performance workshops that if i turbocharge without going down the forged internal route that my engine would blow.
So now i have to find another 2k to get forged pistons etc installed before charging, i have about a grand saved but cant go ahead until i have the rest unfortuantely
the money spent already is to much but i promised myself i would finish it so i just have to keep saving.
