hello guys, my first post here, this forum seems quite active...my question is addressed mainly to those who have done dohc 6g72 conversion in their magnas and veradas...have you ever had any problems with the automatic transmission after the conversion?
my problem is that my sigma (with dohc 6g72) needs transmission transplant, I've found a few intresting donors but all the cars were sohc ...I'm not sure if it won't cause trouble if you use this engine with different transmission...any relevant replies will be greatly appreciated

In the DOHC sticky it mentions the need for a heavy duty clutch, aside from that ive heard they are all fine and dandy

Hi....I put a dohc in my verada (obviously auto)....only problem with transmission ive had is blown transmission computer and thats because of an entirely different issue

so, you should be fine...

Do you mean a clutch or a torque converter?

How many kilometeres have you put on the car with "new" engine?
By the way what was the problem with the computer?
Have you changed the TCU as well?
The only issue I'm aware of is that some newer transmissions
had solenoids with different resistance and if you
used them with older TCU it could fry it after a while
Anyway thanks for the reply, that's quite relief (the only DOHC tranny I found cost about half as much as my car)

not sure how many kms ive done....but i usually do 150-200kms a day for work....so it has been tested...

I didnt change the tcu to the dohc one...

the problem i had was that my alternator's regulator wasnt working properly. This caused the battery to overcharge and cause spikes which killed the tcu..

Ignore the clutch plate, your going for an auto not a manual.
