This is my basic set up.

As you already know, it's an Eaton M90 Supercharger with a brand new coupler, new gasket, replacement bearings and using 90 weight synthetic gear oil.

Still a bit of work to do in regards to engine bay dressing, regulator replacement and some minor electrical work needs to be completed.

The car is off to Hitman in Penrith on my rosterred day off as the engine is knocking and the car is running rich. The 330cc injectors seem to be flooding the engine with a bit too much fuel. So some good tuning will be needed.

Here are a couple teaser shots for eveyone. One photo includes the front end of the car showing that yes, this is my engine bay.

Future plans i'm looking at are a DOHC transplant and a turbo setup by STS (when engine dies and funds are saved), but for now this setup is quite neat and does well against most other tuner cars on the road.

In future I will be taking videos and more photos (with a better camera of course, not the standard nokia 8800 1.3mp pos).

Dimi.

Very Nice. Well done mate.
Looking forward to some better pics.

Almost bolt on? or lots of expensive custom work?
Overall cost ?
Performance gain? (even seat-of-ya-pants feel is enough - doesn't have to be dyno or anything)

That's what I'd like to know as well. At 7 pounds, I think it'll push about 160kW.

What to 6G72 DOHC's turn? 140ish?

Torque is the big one though. Low and midrange torque will improve dramatically, and high end will scream.

CAPA list the M90 as offering (realistically) 40% more go, so it should push 168kW at the flywheel, providing it's tuned properly, ie. correct ignition redardation, RON of the fuel, injector pulses, strength of spark.

Thanks members for your kind comments.

Well at the moment it's an estimate of 168-175kw atw at 7psi (95 Octane). Torque being a nice 360nm. If engine lasts I will upgrade to a 9psi belt and see what my options are, but I'm quite happy with the results with this simple bolt on.
Looking forward to my first dyno tune to see what results come up. Cetainly feels like 350 - 360nm torque (comparing to the supra when it was landed, around 420nm stock).
Can certainly feel the gut wrenching pull especially if kept in 2nd flooring it up Anzac bridge from the tunnel. But only a dyno tune can give us the real figures so i'll just have to wait and see.

At least after the tuning is done and the lifters replaced, I can get back to cosmetic fixes like my faded out boot and installing the Sigma garnish :sook:

The way things are looking, car will be at Autosalon on 4th, 5th and 6th of May representing Eneos Oil and Team Elite Concepts. 4th of May is staging night so that wont be open to the public. Will be recieving confirmation from cabin boys and it's all set.

Currently got a sponsor going with Eneos (Nippon Mitsubishi Oil) www.eneos.co.jp/english, so car will feature they're full sized logo's on the bonnet and both side doors occupied with the current company promotion, both in Silver (which I chose that colour to match the bottom half of the car so it looks clean against the dark ocean blue).
Car is set to have the first set of graphics applied by the 22nd. So if you're interested in that sort of stuff, some photos will be up lol

Only thing i see as a restriction with this is once you've supercharged the SOHC thats probably as far as you can go in terms of bolt on performance for that engine.
if you start off with the DOHC, well you then have the option of turboeing or supercharging that engine, which would produce alot more power in bolt on form then it would the SOHC.

But so many factors to weigh in, like, supercharging this engine would be good becuase well, you already have this engine up and running. but with the DOHC, well you have to spend $3K for the conversion first.
Im still half half on what i ultimatly want to do...soooo many choices.

And dimi - i would invest in one of those chrome intake pipes from ebay US (about $150AU), and get the rocker covers, inlet manifold, and intake plnium powder coated or chrome dipped

Hey paul! Hehe must have a gander at these chrome intake pipes you're talking about! That sounds nice.
I reckon you should supercharge your engine too. Then we can be best friends http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/images/smilies/new/snoozer_01.gif

looking good,
how ever few points, how come your sig stated a while back that it was 10psi, then i remember seeing 8 or 9psi and now your saying its 7?!?!, also knocking = pinging = lack of fuel (leaning out) how ever you say that its running rich?!?!!? and lastly why cant we see a belt in the pictures, the first pic you can clearly see the pulley but no belt then in the 2nd picture you have conveniently cropped out the end of the charger

Signature was 10PSI but I had changed that to the realistic 7PSI. 10PSI couldn't be done as the belt wouldn't support this as I was told during installation. So let's say, 10PSI was my target, and what I also hope for in the future.
My signature also said Supercharged before the car had gotten supercharged, yes. Only because it was well underway and knew it would be done. So?
For your information detective, my signature didn't say 10PSI then 9PSI then 8PSI. Cmon mate HAHAHA :bowrofl:

Save the pictures and zoom in. There is a belt. The sceptism doesn't worry me. I didn't post photos up so everyone could play where's wally with them. Just as a solid proof so everyone can stop pelting tomatos at me about the pictures. I also cut that part of the engine bay so it would fit the 97.kb limit with the best quality possible. Or else I'd be stuck with an 800x600 file that won't fit unless the quality was toned down to look even more blurry than it already is.
If you like, I can send the whole photo to you via MSN which will include belt and what not? Just add me.

I believe the car is running rich because I can smell fuel constantly? Also, when I put the foot down from a stand still, the car will launch but seems to *jerk* while going through the revs. Certainly correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe this is knocking?
Apologies mad lanté (aka judge judy) if i'm not correct here.
I guess I could use a bit more of your knowledge in this case.

Be easy. Remember, i'm not a car expert (YET) lol

Cheers man. Damn that looks nice. Comes with the pod too.
What do I do about the manifold pipes. Can I buy chrome ones or do I have to get them removed and bling them from there? :D

Hehe good to see your engine mod account has started. I reckon you should go for a 6G74 transplant  The growl would sound crazy. Whenever pajeros (yes, pajeros) are next to me at the lights, I wind my window down to listen to them take off http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/images/smilies/curtain.gif It sounds really nice.

You mean your intake manifold pipes? i would get some from the wreckers, clean them up and take your time with them, then put those ones in once there done.
the umm 6g74 sounds ultra nice, never heard of it until i think KB said something about it.
I will be doing some more research into it throughout the year.
Only thing i dont like about it is availablity of parts in AUS, i dont want to be paying top dollar just for maintence parts ya know?
Ah well.....
Gotta re do my boot install...for a 3rd ime....damn stereos

I also ask why a person takes many photo's of much lessor mods with high quality photo's cant produce similar when completing such major mods

It's called bye bye 2 megapixel phone (thanks to the ex for snapping it in half)

im sure i can say i would be very interested in seeing such over change of grilles etc.

Adrian, I'm not sure what you meant in this section?

Help some ppl out who might want to follow your path dimi, every s/c kit in the us has used an alternate set up, so my research came to a hault...

More than willing to help when I'm on. Just shoot me a PM and I'll give you the details and links of my basic research :)

i was curious thats all no need to fire up :doubt: i never said i saw it go 10, 9, then 8, i just remember it going from 10 then seeing either 8 or 9 (maybe i saw wrong) then 7

i did happen to save the pics and zoom in hence me saying what i did, i can see top of the pully ok but cant see a belt follow. use photobucket or similar and post the full size or maybe soon post up better pics for us then

if its surging it can either be running lean (knocking) or rich, both will do it but there is ways to tell which one, if its leaning out that much to surge you would hear the pinging/knocking (metallic noise) and rich would be black smoke from the exhaust. also fuel smells different from just smelling it straight out to smelling it from the exhaust, unburnt fuel is very intoxicating and musky, if your smelling it like you can from the petrol station maybe you have a leak?

also just curious what computer are you currently running and where abouts where you able to get the belt, also im not aware how this systems setup but im guessing you would have had to change the harmonic balancer to account for the charger belt or does it run in line with with your old one??

Dimi, have you worked out why it pings?

did you worked out your fuel leak, or wether it actually is running rich?

Of course i'm happy that people are interested in the car.
Doesn't make me happy when I cop these subtle *suspicion questions*. It's like, get a life keyboard warrior. "I can't see the belt", "busted you conveiniently cropping the image so the belt didn't show" - http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/images/smilies/nag.gif OK DUDE I stuck a pretend supercharger and manifold on and drove it around LOL. Idiot :bowrofl:
Then I get a reply, "no need to get fired up" <-- DUDE what's wrong with your mixed emotions. One minute you're certain you have a case here, next, it's like oh just calm down I didn't mean to get you angry. Get outta here maaaaan! http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/images/smilies/fryingpan.gif

ok to put it back on topic...

Dimi, have you worked out why it pings?

I'm not sure on what it could be. But as it accelerates past 3,000 rpm the revs start to drop (a bit) and sometimes it will jerk. Then it will just go up and I'll feel the mini acceleration rush and it will continue nicely. I had problems with the belt when it first got set up. So wasn't sure if I was going to continue with the Eaton M90 or look for something else with an intercooler. But I continued with this set up and i'm quite happy with it, except how it's knocking or pinging(?) and I can smell fuel. Don't know what's happening.
Hopefully this Friday, i'll know what's wrong and can get it fixed for not too much.

Also the tacho, once it reaches 5,000rpm it just dies out and hits the bottom. Like, it just conks out http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/images/smilies/sick.gif
Maybe if I upgrade to a Diamante cluster this would fix it? Kind of annoying, I read of a similar problem with the DOHC upgrades?

Adrian, the sound clip was of my shift kit. This shift kit simulates double clutching and gives a space between gear changes in the auto. Remember? And if I plant the foot down, it'll make the tyres chirp. Which is pretty silly I reckon. But still, a nice mod!
The shift kit is great. Too bad I paid $600 for it, chuck can get one for $100. God damn
It just sounds good, that's all. And would be good for when I upgrade to a louder exhaust because the *auto gear change note* will be gone

Aw not at the moment man
When it gets tuned, I'll post up the results! Kind of scared to find out what the results are.

But estimate around 175kw atw. Give or take.
The good thing is, it hardly breaks traction too. Unless I rev it and then manually put the lever into L haha. But even then, it'll chirp and catch on pretty quick.

Hope my engine doesn't blow up one day. That'll be pretty embarassing hahaha
