Hey everyone,

I bought a second TP GT the other day... had it sent to me from victoria, to adelaide!

Anyway, since buying it i have redone the badging in my own style, put elante carpet in it (had aftermarket carpet with holes... came out of my wreck elante) also put tinted windows in (Again out of wreck elante) added a rear louver to help hide the 6x9s to the new clarion cd deck. I have also added the side and rear skirts from an elante and it has now got a sports steering wheel. Have bought some brand new gold 17inch wheels to go on as soon as they get here, within a week. Today i just put an alarm in.

Overall the cars great... downer is its an auto but still dont go too bad at all!

Oh yea, ive also added a couple of gold stripes to the bonet for a gt type look and painted the grille and front badge gold... i saw the photo of the gold painted grill on here... and no i didnt copy it... i had tried the idea on one of my other elantes before!! but um i used an elite grille to paint which i think looks a bit better if its going to stick out so much (i hope that doesnt sound bad, im noy paying out the other one on here at all!!!??)

If anyones interested ill put some photos up of it when i get the wheels on and a shot of one of the photos i bought it from so you can tell me if it looks better hehe

Anyway, Talk to ya all soon!

Alex.

Wow, that was fast...

Ok, This is a photo that i was sent... didnt see the car before i bought it... was on ebay, negotiated and bought it before the listing ended.

Looking at this photo, the windows almost look tinted... but they werent!

I'll wait till the wheels are on it untill i put the 'now' photos up... so this is all for now hehe.

Man Alex, I'm jealous of all your 1st gens, so nice and clean looking. How many kms has it done? Treated well I hope.

You should come to the good friday cruise, get a chance to catch up and check out ONE of your 1st gens, would be great. :P

This ones done 197,000kms which isnt too bad.

I dont mind the burgandy, but yea i think blues the best looking. I had one ready to buy (burgandy) in nsw but its too expensive to get it here unfortunately... anyone know anyone in nsw who could bring it here cheaply hehe.

whats the difference with a GT??

Aströn Boy
21-03-2007, 06:35 PM
essentially, there not as well known, the elant'e had a full body kit

the gt had only the front and rear spoiler, no ground effects.

the gts were made as a run out in the tp series toward the end of the gen 1s life span.

gold atom rims, pin striping, color coded grille and elite suspension.

also some other stuff.

carcycle knows all about em

I can remember Mum buying one of these new in '90! Hers was a burgundy one with the 5 speed... It was a choice between that or a Camry CSX. I am glad she chose the former! I still remember the TV ads for the car! " The Grand Australian Tourer for under $22,000!" :bowrofl:

Really!?

Wow, i was about 3 or 4 years old then hehe, this is a very unlikely thing but... she wouldnt happen to have any brochures or things about the car from when she bought it new at all? i would be willing to buy them, obviously!

Or does ANYONE have Anything of these or elantes? i have an elante wall picture thing and a couple brochures but yea, after anything to do with the sports ones.

i was just wondering what your attraction is to the 1st gen. not criticising, just curious as you seem to have quite a few of them. I reckon its cool that you like something different.
(no VL commodores for you).:D

If she had of kept the brochures on the TP i would have kept away safe and sound but alas... None were given out! I might be able to help you with an Elante one though as i have heaps of 1st gen brochures including the odd colour shart or 2... PM me and let me know what you are after and i will have a look and see what i have.

I wish we still had the thing actually. She traded it in 2000 on a Hyundai Accent! The TP had only done about 140000 kms at the time and had a new set of tyres and 12 months reg. But, she traded it without telling me and all she got was $1000 even! You wouldn't believe how wild i was! I would have given her double that and had a good car and made a profit if i was to sell it.... Hindsight is a wonderful thing.:D

keep it exactly as it is now.
what you have there is excellent and different looking....... well mostly :P

not the greatest fan of 5 spokers on 4 stud bolt pattern, spec when you can see the bolts, but the color is nice, so from a distance shot like provided it looks nice.

any future upgrades planned?

Gday everyone!

PeteW, sorry i missed what you wrote before, the gold stripes are just normal pinstripes, just cut off a length and turned the top one into the bottom one at the end... i wanted to enhance the 'bonnet bulge' like someone mentioned, the GT Falcons, i did actually want to do it before they came about... just never did it on my other ones though!

The clear indocators are for a toyota hilux, i read on this forum (im sure it was?) that someone else used those, so i bought a set off ebay and they dont quite fit... one side of each of them is bolted straight into the backing... its probably half a centimetre too short... but its not noticeable unless you 'study' it.

i was just wondering what your attraction is to the 1st gen. not criticising, just curious as you seem to have quite a few of them. I reckon its cool that you like something different.
(no VL commodores for you).:D

My attraction isnt really to the 1st gen, more just the Gt's and elante's... or just immaculate ones! ok so maybe it is hehe. Truth be told, i assist in running my dads car yard and motorbike shop. I have about 15 cars many of which are in the yard for sale. as are the magnas. They are though, just for my collection more than anything as i want BIG money for them and chances are wont ever sell many. Although a year ago i sold two elantes and did REALLY good deals on them (as in made me enough money to own all my current ones from the profit!) BUt yea, we dont sell too much at all these days... i guess what im just trying to pint out,i dont just buy them to sell them... i love them

My dad had an Immaculate GT for several years trying to sell it just before i got my license, i used to drive up and down the street in it (not the first car i drove, started driving when 11) but i just REALLY REALLY liked it and it was when i bought a ten years of mitsubishi in australia book and learnt it was a limited edition model, i was attracted to them ever since. Then i started up my magnamania site and i think i sort of made people aware and started this whole tp gt thing, please correct me if im wrong, but i dont thik they were ever mentioned or heard of before then? Im not saying that trying to be smart... whats peoples opinion on that though?

Dim, loose the louver!!?? i put that on it! i think they look extra sporty somehow with them on them, and i put it on there for the purpose of covering up the rear speakers which stick out! (to help avoid breakins)

I never reailsed they had a GT badge on them, never seen one with one before only the K&D lion thing

They dont have a GT badge on them, nor do they have anyway of actualy telling anyone theyre a "GT model"... The Magna badges on the boot and side skirts are TL/TW badges (of which i do to all my elantes etc, went one further with a gt badge this time) The Gt badges are 380GT badges, painted gold. I think they look the part! If you see a tn/tp 'sports' with chrome badges then its me or oone i used to have!

I dont think there are any future upgrades planned, i think its just a look the part car.... being an auto and all.

Anyway thanks for all your comments ill keep everyone up to date if anything does happen, and rermember... if anyone has any bits and pieces or promotional material for Elnates or Gts let me know!!!

Hope its ok to post such a long message!!??

Thanks
Alex.

Well if you like it...I used to have one on an old mitsu colt i had and hated it, couldnt see anything out the back window. Plus i think it adds more grandpa-ish look to the car (kind of the opposite to putting the mags on it).
