That's similar to the head unit that I purchased from HK as well. Here's hoping it'll continue to perform well for a long time and to our expectations as the warranty is only 3 months for my unit! So far, I'm very happy with it. Here are the pics before and after.

Looks the goods, kinda wish I bought that style instead. I bought one from HK ebay as well last August/September but it was separate dvd / screen units. Apart from the incessant rattle buzz from the screen when it is closed everything still works fine and hopefully for a long time yet. Something has probably come loose because the screen doesn't sit still when closed but I can't be stuffed pulling it out to have a look see. So I just jam a theme park map into the gap and that fixes it. :D

how do you guys go with warranty etc if it breaks? im looking for one of these 2din units but want gps aswell inbuilt brash imports have a unit + $690 for gps!! thought that was a bit pricey! where are these units on ebay??

Mine came with 12 months warranty, but personally speaking, I think I would just go buy another one if my current one broke in say 1-2 years. I just couldn't see it being worth the cost of paying high shipping fees back to and from HK and then waiting around for it to be fixed. And that's even if it gets fixed properly. It only cost me $300 to my door and is loaded with features so I'd rather get a new and later model unit in a couple of years if it does happen to break.

This is where I bought mine:

cheers i looked at this one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180097823221&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:AU:1 but the reply i got was a bit iffy! in regards to repairs "Correct, so no warranty unless we install it, upon which we provide a 3 month warranty. Units are brand new and all tested. We have had no recalls. Clarion film TV antenna's provide good quality reception, depending on your proximity to TV towers. NesaNav Version 12 has been designed for the unit, which uses Destinator software. Additional $990. Thanks" hmmm really dunno if i`d buy that:confused:
btw does anyone know if this unit would be ok to run subs, amps etc off? and can you install any nav software on these units?

Cant install actual software on these units but you can plug in a nav unit to the back

Nesanav is sold by Neltronics.

Those units are Necvox units sold here by Audioxtra. They retail at $1999 from them...that price is pretty good actually.

I bought mine from Eonon as well, $523 to my door. If it does break down within a year, I'd be most disappointed! Dunno if I would take the trouble packing it and sending it to HK. Honestly, if I'd known the warranty was only 3 months, I might have changed my mind about buying it. I've since checked around other Ebay shops in HK, most offer the same warranty time for similar units, only one offer 12 months warranty.

Hey Billy, that's a very neat way of installing your TV antenna! I'm going to do the same for mine once I get my TV antenna. My unit did not come with one (that's another thing I was not aware of). What's the TV reception like?

I did make some enquiries for the Eclipse AVN6000 earlier in the year and was quoted $3500, a lot cheaper than what you paid for it and still way too much for my budget. Then I looked at the Pioneer unit (6 in disc changer) but without GPS at JB HiFi for $1700 but decided to save about $1200 and go for the HK brand.

Thanks, it was like it was designed to clip in there on the shelf. Reception is pretty much spot on where I live Green Point (I can watch/hear tv when working on the car which is handy lol ) and around the Gosford because there are a few towers on the mountains. I haven't done a whole lot of testing outside the Gosford region but have found the best reception is when I am in line of sight of a tower, a few kays within range of a tower or in elevated areas such as Kariong. Having said that, I don't use the tv a whole lot anyway because it is kind of hit and miss with the location to get good picture/sound so I mainly watch dvds. It's more a novelty than anything to me but still cool to have. The aerial that came with the unit is probably the weak point so perhaps upgrading that might help, but I'm not fussed though. Hope this helps.

Yer i have been looking on ebay alot, and all the cheap touch screens have VERY basic looking menus, very ugly imo. Im thinking thats where all the money is spent on pioneer, kenwood, alpine dvd units, in the user interface.

Reading on CAA, the guys reckon not to go near these ebay units.... im really tempted to go for one, but i have no idea of the sound quality or anything...

And the whole price sounds suss as hell, i mean $500 for a dvd player touchscreen, you can get a mp3 player for the same price with no dvd no lcd screen or anything.....

i dont know what to do... i want a touch screen but i dont want to spend over $1000 for a quality well known brand...

the 2nd and 3rd auctions i listed definitely lists 1 year factory warranty, and comes with the serial numbers and warranty card, so u'd be fine with that one :) no need to mess with the ebay seller, just jvc themselves

and no i dont know the seller or anything, just lettin u know :P
