What ECU are available for the TJ Mitsubishi Magna 3.5L?
I'm looking for one which will give me a significant increase in power but one which won't rob me of my money.
I know there is Greddy, Haltech and Unichip, does anyone know about any others at a reasonable price?

ok - Greddy Emanage and the Unichip are not ECU's - these are (well the greddy is a Piggyback ECU and hte Unichip - thats just a chip)
so yeah - they arent AfterMarket ECU's
But you can look at Haltech, Wolf, MOTEC (depending on how much you wanna spend) but it all depends on what you intend to do to your car - there are a lot of things you can do before going to this extreme

Like? And I wouldn't be looking for flat out performance nothing else, just some performance mods which will give me quite good overall results for not such a huge price (huge price for me is spending over 2000 on performance in total)

not looking at spending over 2K??
Hmm - well for that budgeet - i would look at Race Extractors, POD and CAI, Muffler, and FPR - that will almost take care of 2K for you and you will be impressed with teh sound and the feel of the car!!

i was already thinking POD and CAI, and not too keen on muffler if i were to get VR-X or Sports. But not too sure bout Race Extractors and wats an FPR?

FPR = Fuel Pressure Regulator. Of the rising rate variety. It means your injectors actually GET the fuel they NEED at high power, instead of running out of fuel and starving the engine. Good investment.

I can honestly say for 99% of peopke with modified magnas that the greddy is all you need. I have proven it with a twin turbo magna and greddy system only.
Unless you are going very exotic especially if you have an auto which immedietly wipes out major items like a Haltech or Motec because you need the stock comptuer to run the auto which a Haltech or Motec cannot do.

What about your cruise control? TCL? an all the other niceties that the ECU provides?

how much is the greddy worth. and does it give you a bit more power aswell

Yes teh greddy will improve power.
We just finished tuning Manuels car and picked up 11hp at the wheels for the tuning of teh greddy.
The more mods yuo do the better the result without losing the nice things like traction control / cruise control etc.

If you go more exotic power options like nick tried with stage 2 cams, will the g-reedy make it run fine with the stock ecu???

i was told that there isnt a chip that can control idle control, or there was only one chip that has an idle control for wen u get the bigger cams :?

The greddy has idle speed control in relation to the air/fuel ratio's at idle and the stock computer can adjiust the idle speed automatically.
As well the greddy does allow us to cap off the air flow meter signals at certain positions with cars with eratic idles to compensate so it can cope with large camshafts.

You can change the idle speed on the engine using a screw or sum other tool, i read it in the gregory's manual for TE+
