i'm gettin the same done, just waiting on them to arrive, how hard do you reckon it is to put in, are you goin to wire them through the seats or are you getting a pro to do it?

Took me ages to actually start(had to think alot about it *hmmm should i start cutting up my headrests with a knife or should i think about it for 10mins more*).

All i did was unpick a few stitches on the bottom of the headrests to get the material off, just enough so its not too hard to fix up later.

Tried my hardest to centre the screen in the headrest. Then started using a straight bladed knife, heating it up first.
Then i figure out this was gonna take forever so i found out using a steak knife was the easiest/quickest way.

cut about 10mm in from the lines i marked out and removed most of the foam (just by cutting into squares and ripping it out). Cut the next 10mm or so quite a bit more carefully and testing to see if the plastic screen mount was fitting as i go.

Finally got the screen mount fitting snug (made it so i had to wiggle it around etc to get it fit, so its firm and wont need as much glue to hold it in.

As for the cord, just cut out a bit so itd come close to the metal rod to attach your headrests to the seat.

So yeah fairly easy.

I reckon im gonna cut a small hole in my seat material and feed the cord down the back to the bottom of the seats, then run the cord under my carpet into the back of the H/U.

this is the part that trips me out, is it possible to just feed it through the seat, cuz to me it seams all foam and tight upholstry, no real hollow parts to feed it through, might just leave this part to the pros, keep us posted and if you find a way, post sum pics n simple DIY :) please

I have head rest screens but they were already premounted n the wiring ran down through one of the head rest legs, as for running them throught the seat you would be surprized how hollow the back of the seats are, when i reupholstered my seats i stripped them back to bare foam n the back of the seat is completly hollow the foam is only at the front of the seat. unfortunally i dont have any pics of the back. only of the finished job

Yer there the ebay ones, the pic quality is good, it fills the full 8" not with a stupid black frame or the black bars on the top n bottom. yer they where the closest match to my suede, but i didnt care, i just squint n they match

Well decided to cut my material today.

Not too bad i dont think, still gotta stich up where i unpicked to take the material off and havent glued the plastic case into the headrest yet.

Should have it all glued up and ready to wire up by tomorrow.

Ill keep everyone posted.

ps : the pic makes the foam at the bottom look as if its being pushed out alot, looks better in person.

looks hot bro, coming along nicely!! if you have only done one of em read below it might save you some time on the next one and won't compromise your stiching.

my screens are half done, got them wired up n all just need to put em in the headrest, found a way of doin it with out takin the material off, saves some time, basically stencil the outline of the mount on the head rest, then draw another rectangle about 2cm inside of the one you just drew. mark a X goin through the bigger rectangle and then cut the little square out and then whats left of the lines of the X. you should have 4 flaps now. now just take out as much foam as needed and slide the mount in, should be nice and flush and will leave a nice edge around the whole :) i need to get a double adaptor though for the video out, how much are they, cuz i know that type of stuff can be a bit of a rip off? cheers

Nah done both, the stitching on the side will be a piece of piss to do, as for the material i also cut it in the shape of an X and it come up nicely.

yeah i reckon im gonna need a splitter or whatever for my video outs/in cause i reckon my H/U wont have enough.

Fed the cord through the back of the seats and what a headf&*k that was

Didnt wire them up to the H/U seeing as i need an RCA adaptor and some more time, car is going in for a regancy inspection tomorrow so i didnt want my centre console out and car not being able to start :P

Didnt stitch up the headrests yet or glued in the screens, lets just hope they dont fall out while being inspected:D

looks HOT man!

I've had mine in for about a week now n i notice you've got the same problem with as me with the corners sticking out a lil bit. might go see if i can find a bigger headrest to mount it to so it looks more flush but great job, i reckon that $200 odd to put in is pointless when its so easy to DIY, if you DIY minded type of person.

best part is at night when you stop at a red light in the turning lane, and the person next to you is to busy watchin your screen to notice the light has gon green for them to go straight lol

Hi Frtiz,

Just wondering if you can please elaborate more on this part
"Fed the cord through the back of the seats and what a headf&*k that was "

If you can give me any hints or ideas, coz i will be doing the install on this weekend, and am very scared not to rip apart my seats.

Thanks Buddy,

Asad

Ok,

When i cut the holes out of the headrests for the screens i also made a hole for the cord that ran down next to the bars that the headrest fits into the seat.

Now once i got it all together i had to get the cord down to the bottom of the seat so i could run the cord up the middle of the console into the back of the headunit.

The prob being is that the back of the seat has the material sewed in one annoying spot:

http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/6959/untitledpg5.th.jpg (http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitledpg5.jpg)

What i should have done is put the hole for the passenger side on the other side, ohwell.

Yeah pain in the ass there is prob an easier way around it, i just fed a bit down the pushed it across past the sewen section. then reach from bottom of seats until i could grab the end of the cables.
