View Full Version : Exhaust Manifold crack

Is there any way to repair a cracked exhaust manifold. The crack is hairline but growing. Was thinking of trying one of those Permatex 1000 degree rated ribbons but doubt it will work.
Stop drilling the crack and welding? Or is a wreckers the only real option?
Not sure what you could do to fix it, I however had the same problem as it's very common for the stock cast iron manifold to crack, I replaced mine with lukey extractors.. the crack was a good excuss :badgrin:

apart from welding
you can get a product that is like putty used in cast iorn stove repairs and joints

it can be welded up by your local exhaust shop for as little as $50
essentially if it is cracking, then it is failing, thereby it would have to be replaced as it will continue to crack around the weld, or in another area.
extractors are the way around it and a nice power upgrade, for around the $450 area mark you can get some installed.
next time mine cracks its off with the old on with the new.
