The rattling is driving me nuts
It's fine when the engine is cold (purs like a kitten) but after about 15 mins she rattles quite bad at idle. I tried putting a thicker oil in (helix 20w 50) but no difference so i guess i better get the chains done, she's done 134000k's so i guess its due anyway.
My question is can anyone on here recommend someone in the Sydney metro area to do the job?
Obviously i'm looking for a good price but i also want it done right. Toyed with the idea of doing it myself but don't have the means or space to lift the engine out and really need it done over 2 days (weekend) max as i need the car for work.
If you know what your doing and want to make a few quid for a days work pm me with a price (i don't mind helping btw)
Cheers. :)

if i was in sydeny i'd help but im not sorry. just don't leave it too long cause u don't want to have to rebuild it. also if a mech does it make sure u leave ur manual in the car so he can refer to it and check if they've done one on a magna before giving them ur car. none of this she'll be right mate:D hopefully a member can help out otherwise u won't get alot of change from $1000:doubt:

Look around ALOT for a decent price. I got mine done for roughly $550. Ask everyonen you know if they know any mechanics and ..... well you know the jig.

I copied this from a previous post by Cybermonkey who had major work done on his car.
Ok got the car back. and its AWESOME. it feels like its gained 20kW in power just from having the work done on it. It just purrs along and sounds great.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND DB AUTOMOTIVE IN GRANVILLE!! if you need work done, call Dave on 9760 0300 and tell him Dave with the Magna recommended him. top bloke!!

See what Coltspeed in Meadowbank quote. They are Mitsubishi specialists. I've never personally used them before, but heard they are very good.

I would send Cybermonkey a PM, to find out more about the mob at Granville.
Personally, I would go to a place that is recommended.

Change the sprockets as well as thwe chain and guides. And check the oil pump for wear in the tensioner plunger oil way......other wise you will be re visiting this job again in anything from 6000 to 20000 kms.
The price for kits varies but you can get a powermax kit without sprockets for $150 or less and a kit with sprockets is around $400. Don't know any one who does an after market oil pump but the Mitzy original is $500. You won't get out of this under $1000 if you DIY. Or $1,500 for someone else to do it.
Or update to a 3rd Gen.....Mo!!
