Hey isnt there surpost to be some shim to go with the brake pads, cause ima in the middle of replacing my discs n pads n i am not seeing any shim. i have sorta neglected my brakes for awhile, but with rego coming up next month its time to pull out da finger n get it stuck in to a caliper. but iam happy with the paint so far.

some cars have shims between the pad and caliaper
most of the time they cause noise and get tossed
i recomend not using shims

It might also be good to paint the drum in the middle of the disc, to prevent it from rusting, like the rear drum in the first pic. I've done all mine, using high temp black engine enamel. Looks the goods and not a hint of rust.

I guess you have to get them from Mitsu - mine's missing the shims also and I suspect that's why the pads 'Clonk' loudly when changing direction - as in braking forward then braking backwards. By design, I've read that shims are there to stop low speed 'squeal', but this clonking could be related methinks.
lol im glad you decided to change your pads...you had no brakes left lol

Well if they are not there so be it,BUT if they originally had shims i would highly advise to refit them as the are not called anti squeal or vibration shims for nothing, they are there to take up some slack and stop vibration during braking,a very big cause of brake squeal.on cars that didnt have them and i changed pads they also seemed more noisy than there shimmed brothers

Okay I went to Mitsu today to suss this issue out - apparently the factory only fits shims to the front wheels and they are two piece arrangement - two stainless steel outer plates and two neoprene inner 'bumpers' per caliper (see pic below). Part number is AW350280 - Kit-Service Pad-Hard and cost is $15.50.
CORRECTION - This kit contains shims and lock bolts for BOTH front wheels, so its $15.50 all up
The REAR pads don't have shims but do have a bonded neoprene 'bumper' moulded onto the back of the actual pad itself - something I've never seen on any aftermarket pads as yet.

I have also been told to use this anti squeal greese before by a mate who ownes his own mechanic shop.
Might sound like a stupid question which i also asked my mate but, how does greese on the back of a pad stop it squealing?
