Hi All
I know alot of people properly have change their Auto to a Manual.
But how hard is it to do the conversion the other way.
I have 98 Sports that I want to either put a normal Manual or a Triptronic Auto in it.

Questions
Is it hard to do?
Where can I source the parts from?

Thanks in Advance Daz :)

I want to change it so the person I might be giving the car to can actually drive it.
They can't drive a manual and don't want to learn

Easiest way to do this would be to swap with someone on here who is after a manual, which you shouldn't have any trouble in finding.

well, no, easiest way to do this is replace the person with someone who can drive a transmission or is willing to learn.

:P

nah seriously tho

TCU, wiring loom, transmission.... maybe driveshafts, due to lengths?... don't quote me on that, prob not.

but yeah, either swap with someone, im sure ud get heaps of interest.

ultimately otherwise, tell em to get there own car, or sell ures and replace.....

*shrug* i'd replace the person :P

Its going to cost at least $1700 to do it.

Why dont you tell this said person how much trouble this is, and how much money you have to outlay just becuase they dont want to learn? $250 of driving lessons and they should be able to drive a manual.
Its nice of you though to want to do a conversion for someone else but really they are asking a bit much if they expect you to change your entire driveline.

I have already replace my magna for a EVO 8. :D I just have not decide what to do with the car cause it has been so good.

I was thinking of giving it to my in-laws, that reson for the conversion question

It'll take like an hour of trial and error to be reasonable at driving a manual, or weeks of fussing around and hundreds of bucks to convert it to auto. Decisions decisions...

and if ur 'giving' it to them, they should be greatful either way!

i wish someone had the goodwill to ever give me a car...whoever is recieving it should be grateful with the car in whatever configuration.

plus to convert a manual magna to an auto would be such a horrendous and sad waste - would never own an auto magna after having my manual one! so much more fun! :D

and if someone isnt good enough to even be able to drive a manual they dont deserve a car as good as a TE/TF manual anyway. sell it to someone who will appreciate it. ;)

I want manual conversion.
I only got a 4spd auto... from my TE. If everything is a direct swap I'll go ahead with it. But would someone help me confirm this?
