Hey ppl, did the search and found there wasnt a totally conclusive thinking into my problem. My KJ verada has only done about 80,000k's, but wen i'm sitting at lights it idles pretty bad! tacho doesnt move, just the car a lil, like the steering wheel etc. The thought was the engine mounts, apparently mitsu will fit softer engine mounts

anyways the car was bought from a dealer, so i have the 3 months/5000k's warranty against anything that makes it unroadworthy. i reckon this makes it unroadworthy, do u guys reckon the same? i was thinking of booking the car in for a service there before the warranty runs out, mentioning it to them, and they'll have to change it under the warranty. only prob is, if the first solution doesnt solve it, then it goes past the cutoff, am i up for the next solution?

cheers in advance, hope i can sort out this damn idle :(

Taking advantage of your warranty while it lasts is a very good idea, chances are the problem will be fixed and you won't be out of pocket for it. However if your mechanic is a jerk like mine was they'll just screw you around until the warranty ends and you'll be an angry bastard like I am now.

Dude I'd take it back for sure!

My car has a simular problem where I think it's idle is rough, what I do notice is that I'll be sitting at the lights and the revs which will be normally at 800rpm will dip slightly to about 500rpm but this is just for a second. It causes the car to vibrate while i'm sitting at the lights. I end up putting the car in neutral.

Any idea's, I've replaced all the spark plugs and new leads...

Causes can be

Second Gen 4cyl
Dist shaft bushes, tb dirty, TPS, ISC, PCV blocked, MAS

Third, as above except dist shaft should not be an issue

Thanks madmagna
I'm not to sure what some of these items are can you help elaborate?

Second Gen 4cyl
Dist shaft bushes, tb dirty, TPS, ISC, PCV blocked, MAS

Is this a common problem with 2nd gens?
Also how hard would this be to fix myself?
Given that I have little to no idea what these items are, but I am willing to read up and do it myself.

yeah my car had a rough idle i didnt even know about it :doubt:
took it in to get a new cat fitted under warranty and when they went to move my car into the garage they noticed it had abit of a rough idle
so yeah take it back to the dealer and they'll sort it out
all they did on mine was reset the idle postion and adjusted it abit
runs alot better now :D
