I'd just test fit them before buying them man, I know BA XR wheels fit Magnas but I tried the factory BA wheels off my mums car and they clamped up against my brake calipers to the point where the car wouldn't even move.

they should as most fords have the same stud pattern but as liberate said test them 1st when ya get them on take a quick spin around the block to see if they fit right. and yeah you might need spacers on front

All falcons upto and including the EL models had a completely different rim "offset" to the later AU/BA models which went to a FWD rim offset (around P35mm), hence why BA XR6/8 mags will fit a magna. The EL and earlier model falcon wheels will bolt on but will stick way out past the guards due to there P6mm (approximately) offset.
Just remember the bigger the P offset number (example P40mm) then the further the wheels will sit under the guards than a smaller P offset number (example P10mm)
TE/TW Magnas come from factory with a P46mm offset on there rims.
Just check the offset of his rims (it will be stamped inside one of the spokes) and if its around the P35-40 mark youll be right.
and yeah you might need spacers on front
I thought spacers were illegal.

there not spacers that are required.. they are the rings that go around the spigot (hub) so that the cars weight is being carried on the hub not the wheel studs.. you will need these to fit wheels off a falcon into your magna... they will go out without them but you could break a wheel stud or 5

ah ok, so some good and bad news. Where could i take it to get the spigbot rings fitted properly?? If it was just sitting on the wheel studs would they break very easily? ARGH

they wont fit, you need a fwd offset ie: 40-45p the e series run a 5p offset, they will stick MILES out of the guards.... spacers will make them stick even further out...
sorry man just fork out the $$ for the right rims for your car, you can get 20's with new tyres for under 2500 most places.... i saw a deal for new 20's and new tyres for 1990 in the paper

EF falcon wheels wont go onto our magnas.. AU-BF will fit 3rd gen, although will stick out a smidge at the front.

yeah do check cause he might have got the wrong rims cause those rims in 20" pre-AU offset would be uber rare. theres probably ET35 stamped somewhere inside the rim.

mmmm well i did some more research and those wheels apparently dont even come pre - au so they must of just whacked BA fitting wheels on it and not actual EF offsets! So i rang up injekted (the place where he got the rims from) and asked if they would fit on my magna and he said they sure will and the only problem would be that the wheel nuts from the ford to the magna would be different. So im just going to get em and sell them again if i have too. thanks for all your help but much appreciated cheers hedgie:badgrin:

Yes, they will break when the vehicle is loaded up. A friend of mine bought some rims for
his Mondeo which were meant for Falcons. On the way back from Melbourne with a full
passenger load and boot load and a trailer, two bolts from each of the rear wheels sheered
off while travelling at 100km/hr. Not an experience you want to have.
Generally, with aftermarket wheels, the mounting plate is made quite thick which is geared
for very little offset. They can be machined to give more positive offset up to the limit of
the minimum stud hole thickness. I actually parked next to an AU and EL today with
factory alloys, and you can clearly see that the EL mounting plate is about 2cm thicker
than the AU mounting plate and you could see the bolts on the AU sticking out about 5mm
where as the EL bolts are hidden inside the stud holes.
