Hi guys,

I have now purchased a TH 3.5 auto sedan.

Ive seen a few manuals on here who have dipped in the high 14 et with limted mods.

What mods would get me a high 14 second pass other than a exhaust and cai on a 3.5 auto?

Cheers
Mark.

sell it and buy a manual

I did a 14 with a K&N filter as the only 'mod' i did

Only mod that will get a 4spd auto into the 14's that doesn't involve extensive engine work is a manual conversion and a bit of practice.

$650 for nos, easy 14's

i once found a site where they rented a car in the us a 3spd auto 4cyl chrysler neon fwd, and with just nos alone they gor it into the 12's..... note they also rooted the engine, but did manage high 12's

so with maybe not so much nos you'll be right :D

Unfortunately a auto is not going to make it into the 14's without extensive mods as the auto is just not up to the task.

Ive tried before with an auto and have decided with the one i have now that although i've modded it, im just happy to cruise with it rather than try to get quick times with it

maybe try to source a 5spd tippy? otherwise it would have to be forced induction ideally, or cam work etc etc

and being the 4spd, i'd say more like high 15s i think, but it would be good for ET racing (like the 4, 6 and rotaries here in perth)

i have a 5spd tippy and only managed a 15.3 with my mods minus the cam work emanage and throttle body. I am hoping to now get there but have spent another $3k for it.

will need a few extra mods to get the extra time.. you will be a mid 15 now..

Id say start looking at and piggy back or something..:)

I have a Tippy TJ AWD (5 speed 3.5ltr V6) and i'm getting 15.6 wif only a Cannon exhaust. I'm about to put a cold air intake onto it. I'm thinking about a maual conversion to...does anyone have a rough idea of prices and who does it in Perth?

Cheers

So youd be getting a 16.7 without right? or have I been hanging around too many Lancer owners?

haha no chance:nuts: Take my list of mods for example: Zorst extractors cai panel hi flow catetc also 5 spd tippy and managed a 15.3 I think you need alot more than that as AWD have less power atw because of the distribution. 15.6 is an o.k run, but it takes a bit to knock half a second off your time. Now that i have cams it'll be better but have spent money to get it....

No, not half the power, half the torque. Power is a little down due to drivetrain losses (as to be expected) and slower due to the weight.

The only way is to start looking at forced induction.

Damn, i really didn't want to have to look a forced induction because i dont have the money to do it yet  _stonesour_...can you please tell me why it's not feasable to do a conversion in an AWD? I knew it would be harder but not too much harder?

do a search the topic has been covered many times, and let me say firstly, anything is possible, it's just how much money you are willing to spend to make it a reality.... and for whats involved.. it just isnt worth it

spot on.... i have a tj fwd auto and i figure 1 sec over 400mtrs isnt worth a $2800 convertion (approx) $95 ram pod and $240 exhaust thats putting aside the extractors little throttle body work chips ect.... its like this. drive it or sell it!!! i am thinking for 20k you can get a 01 tj vrx 5 speed manual ($12,500) super charged ($5,200) on air ride suspention ($2899) flame thrower kit ($free) all up aprox ($21,000) call me crazy but i know what id do:headbange

dude, $2,800 is cheap to get 1 second off your quater mile time if racing is your thing. I've spend 7 on the sprintex kit and if i got a full second off my N/A time, i would be doing back flips. lets hope i do back flips next wednesday night lol
