Alright im lookin at gettin some type R splits for the front, and looks like its gonna be a biatch to fit in, i just bought the rada door trims so i can have a map pocket still and covered speakers but i dont think i will have enough depth, the need 70mm and i think there is maybe 60mm from window to metal door frame, say the door trim is 3mm thick i still need atleast 8mm (1mm gap would be nice just incase lol) any advice/ideas??? was thinking mdf spacer things in JB ($9 for two) but the guy said if im gettin type r's i may aswell get fibre glass cause the MDF would sound like ass and have no quality ect.

Any help would be greatly apreatiated.

You would be better off Buying some angled fibreglass door pods From say JB (Around $60 a pair)
They would give you all the clearance you need.
I dont see whats wrong with an MDF ring if its possible, it wont make much difference in sound at all.

Just make sure that you try at least some sort of sound deadening.
the only thing that will sound like ass is your car becuase of all the rattles from the doors boot (if theres a sub) etc etc.

yeah don't buy the spacers from jb if you want some make them yourself and the doorpods come from a place in SA called pro pod australia most dealers stock them in act i think they will do a better than JB price see scott at elite how the install going it look like you doing it all except the alarm if you want the fibreglass pod see tim i think new gel will do them for you.

You Bought Alpine tell scott just use a mallet (joke) yeah i think the front door are hard but for a "pro" it should be easy he should have done a car like yours before.

Custom door pods will set you back about $50ish in materials anyway, just some scraps of MDF, cloth, resin + catalyst, Fg matting, it can be done but its a bit of work involved which is why maybe the off the shelf aerpro ones may be easier.

I have custom MDF door trims 6mm thick( i think)
and i can fit my 6" Pioneer's in without any issues..
they are about 70mm deep from memory

custom trims are not hard to make... just takes parts and time and a bit of inginuity when things don't fit like u planned

Haha thats what im thinking of doing, buying speakers, tryin to make them fit, one way or another i will make them fit lol. just thinking how much i could change the speaker fitting area in the verada trim itself, cause with the little plastic speaker mount thingo in that its like ment for a 5 and a half inch i think so that needs to go, which would make room for about 10-20mm i think, so should all work i hope. but first thing is first, gettin the damn things on lol.

They look pretty sweet. anyways i got the speakers today and put one of the map pokets of the rada on today, will wait till weekend to do other and start cutting holes for light/speakers.

I may not need as much of a spacer as i thought, probaly only 6mm but who knows, they are only $9 for the mdf ones from JB and i recon they'd do fine.

Got another JB deal today, $50+ worth of wire for $20 :D i love them guys when it comes to not using calculators, So anyways i have like 10+ metres of 12 guage wire to do the 4 speekers.

Cheers for everyones help.

dude with the rada pods just take the plastic bits behind the grille out and chuck in some washers to keep the screws nice and tight, leaves heaps of roomand u can still see the speaker behind the grille, looks nice

Thats the plan :D yeah gonna put a spacer up behind the speaker, that plastic things too small anyways for the 6 1/2's anyways so its out, i may just get some shorter screws or something to keep the grill on. i figure theres about 10-20mm there so should be nice and clear of the blasted window :D

Alright i think ive got to the point of self installing where i am happy (gonna cut the holes in door trims and figure out spacers next weekend/this week) but i have no idea how to do that, the only thing is i want to install the amp at same time (Alpine V12 F345) now i get the basic idea of power from batery with a fuse on it through a gromit in fire wall and then to boot, a ground from amp to bare metal close by, but wat is the acesory too??? and also the RCA's are ment to go on oposite side of car to the power arnt they to stop noise? and also dosnt the same aply for speaker cable (which is impossible because there are gonna be speakers on both sides of the car.....) also which gromit can be used through fire wall?????

All help apretiated.

Cheers, Mikey

Just an idea for ya... excuse the colour scheme, its just a test fit. Everything will change colour soon enough.

As for the amp, the remote wire on the amp must go to the remote output from your headunit. Yep, run power on the battery side of the car, RCA's & speaker wires on the opposite side. Another place to run speaker wires & rca's in magnas is under the centre console and beneath the carpet (leading under rear seat). That might save you a few metres of wire.

Alright well i have like 12meters of 12guage wire so not too much of an issue there, am thinking of putting either 4guage through to a distributor block thing and then running 2x8's for the amps, or should i go nuts and run 0/2guage then split into 2x4's? also gromit locations? the one that looks alright is onoposite side to batery

I've had two types of 6.5" speakers placed in the TS Doors with Verada pods.
Both sets were put in by pro installers. Just had the second set installed and found out the first installers didn't take that plastic grille bit out. It was pushed up on the old speakers squashing the rubber/foam ring bit around the speakers - dodgey install! Not happy.
At least the new installer spotted this and has removed that plastic bit.

...Just an idea for ya... excuse the colour scheme, its just a test fit. Everything will change colour soon enough... Mate, that looks tops. Just had 6.5" and 4" speakers placed in my doors.
Wish I had the skills or the $$$ (to pay someone else) for that type of install.

Anything else i need? im rather keen on DIY'n this but i'll need help HELP!!!
