Are these the white on black premiums or the euro plates?
If they are the white on black premiums (ABC-12A arrangement in your paint shop seems to indicate that they are), I cannot see why they wouldn't fit because they were introduced before your car was made.
If they are the euro plates, I would cancel and re-order plates that fit, or ask the RTA if you can legally fix them to the passenger side of the bumper.

Aren't the white slimline premium plates smaller than the large yellow standard issue plates? I too don't see why you would have issues.
If they are the Euro plates you're getting, they too now come in a slimline arrangement for the front.

its not that they'll look **** on the side, it'll look **** with the big gaping chasm where the number plate should be

If you don't have an intercooler behind your front bar, don't move it to the side, you just look like a tool. Make yourself a spacer out of plastic and mount that in the gap then put your number plate on top.
Your numberplate is clever lol... Guilty :P

lol thanks.. immmm so stuck cos ive seen the spacer things and they look crap. :( i need help
I had a similar problem on my Trans Am on the rear. I ended up geting a plate holder/ or frame if you prefer. I then used this to mount over the original plate position (which curves into the rear bumper) With the plate holder there, you would never know it's not meant to be like that. I got them off ebay fairly cheap, nice and chrome with custom lettering on it.
