atm i have a 4x50wrms amp runing my front and back speakers...

i want a little more power to the fronts so i was thinking about bridging the amp and running the rear channel of the deck which puts out 24wrms or something close to that from memory....

anyway the amp manual says that in 2ch mode it a mono signal not stereo signal...

whats the go there? will it sound like crap or is it not going to be that noticeable....

the reason why i ask first and not just do it, is i have to pull out the seat and piss about to get to the wiring

should still be stereo but each bridged channel will be mono... So instead of 4 stereo channels u will have 2 stereo channels. you may have to use rca splitters.

ie channel 1 + 2 bridged to the left front speaker
channel 3 + 4 bridged to form the right speaker
RCA's left rca (white) split using rca spliiter into ch 1 & 2
right rca (red) split using rca splitters into ch 3 & 4

Depending on what the amp can do (some allow u to switch inputs or have an automatic pass through from the inputs to all the channels)

the amp is a 5x50wrms response from jaycar

Ok, by the looks of the amp it doesnt have any selectable channel switch. What i mean is selecting 2,3 or 4 channels. Some/most 4 ch amps have this...

Im guessing that if you bridge it to 2 channels it should be the same as it was before but with 160rms each channel. But from what you are saying in the manual has got me confused. As the amp should be stereo regardless of how many channels you have it running on.

from what i can see the manual is referring to the fact that if you bridge two channels instead of two channel stereo you receive 1 channel mono.

But since its a 4 channel it will be 2 mono channels which will still equate to 2 stereo channels as long as you split the inputs correctly.

Sounds logical to me. :stoopid:

thanks for the help, it's sorted now

im running the rears off the deck bridged the amp and now the amps running the fronts, and it's sounding exactly the same just a tiny bit louder the manual says in bridged mode it's 130wrms x 2....

so far so good..

What RMS are the speakers? by the sounds of it its the speakers, also you could fade forward a little so it sounds louder at front then back :P

they are jaycar splits i think 80wrms is peak continous handling

and i have it faded to the front 10points out of 15, so the rears arent really noticable.... they were going to come out but i got lazy, so next time the rears are coming out all together...

i had the rears switched off and the subs going, and the 6x9's in the shelf were still pounding even though they werent on.... lol....

so im going to remove them so the air can escape from the boot a little better (yes i always leave the ski port open too)

did u say you were going to run the rears off the deck? dont do it, it will sound crap, better off buying a cheap 2 channel amp from jaycar so having all 4 speakers amped,

He said he's got it set mostly to front with the rears only playing a little, will sound fine this way.

after some tuning it's faded 12 out of 15 to the front and sounding good :)

btw the deck costs $2200 and as i was playing about it sounds better than my 4x50w jaycar amp at moderate levels till about 90% volume

When amps are bridged, the THD drops, and overall sound quality is ment to be worse, than when running it unbridged.

Did you notice any difference, or all good to you???

i havent noticed any loss in sq at all, but i have had to play around with the settings a bit to get it the way i like it...

the gains are pretty low and i have it set that i can have max volume with no distortion.... im pretty pleased with it.... but i wanna get some decent subs now in ported boxes....

Most head units start to distort the audio signal at around 85% of full volume. To tune your amp to get the most out of your system you should have the head unit at the base of where it will start to distort the signal and then set your gains to the loudest you want your speakers.

i dont have most headunits

it's simple on mine.... i just adjust the source level adjuster on the h/u i have it set differently for dvd cd and aux and also radio.... lol

Yer my head unit has the same adjustment. SLA. Ultimately that will just amplify the distortion on the head unit. I thought differently until i spoke to a well known installer in my area.
