how much do u have to spend?

a carptuer isnt cheap

if u use a regular computer u still need a pure sine wave invertor plus cabling plus touch screen

if u use a proper carputer one u still need the cabling but u need a custom power supply...

For around $2500 give or take I can build and fabricate a double DIN carputer for you to bolt in a 2nd or 3rd gen that will have all of the above and ship it out to you.

If you want to do it yourself, mp3car is all the info you need. Add me to msn and I will give you free advice.

I have a laptop with a busted screen, but otherwise in perfect working order. How hard is it going to be for me to hook this up to an indash screen?

Yeh it's got s-video and normal monitor out. Also has USB. It's an old asus pentium 3 800mhz, but with a cleaned up drive and only running apps i need to play movies/music i can't see there being a problem with it being slow.

Your output would be fine - most cheap screens have an svideo or composite input (and you can get adaptors that convert between the two)

That MviX unit looks pretty good. I would chop up the bezel completely, mount the unit behind dash, fabricate the lcd and buttons into the ash tray dash panel. I would pay up to $1000 for a unit like this with ethernet network support and digital outputs, for my home setup.
