Hey im back after a year or something :)
I did a quick search of Pod boxes and didnt give me an answer i was hoping for, when i left there was talk of working on a 2nd Gen pod box (Ez boy) and then Kim started working on ezboys prototype (i think), just wanted to know whatever happened to it. is it done? can i buy one? or was the idea scrapped?
anyhoo hopefully im not going to dissapear for a long time again so i can get back to the forums,
Cheers

I picked up the prototype box from Kim.
Planned to either make them or get them made up.
But then last year I was diagnosed with Cancer and chemo treatment delayed a lot of stuff including this.
Now that my treatment is finished and I'm in remission, I'll get back onto it.
Don't expect anything real quick but stay tuned.

Its good to hear you so committed, Health comes first!! no rush for getting it done. Its probably best to wait anyway, petrol is going through the roof here  1.33  its been worse and its heading back up!!!
 its still good to think of the possible extra horsie and rawr , does the prototype box reduce the pod noise?

...does the prototype box reduce the pod noise? To be honest, I don't know, I haven't even put the box in my car.
When I get to it, I'll fit it in to make sure the size, shape, etc. is right.
Then I'll look at how to make it.
Still deciding if the plastic is the way to go.
When I did some investigation at some fabrication type places, they suggested making it out of plain old steel or alluminium.
Steel would heat up eventually but they said it'd take so long to make a difference inside considering nothing hot would be bolted to it - but I'm not convinced. Also, postage would cost more.
Alluminium would cost slightly more to make than steel, but wouldn't transfer the heat. Also lighter than steel. Alluminium could also be polished up for show or painted black for stealth/stock looking.
Plastic is what the prototype is made out of, but haven't tried to make anything out of it before and haven't found anyone willing to make it yet.
Still thinking...

CAI will INCREASE your economy. The leadfooting that comes from more power will decrease however ;)

hehe good point. So far im teaching myself to drive grandma style (2k gear changes) to test the fuel economy, so far i have 150km for a quater of a tank, so thats still 3 quaters to go :doubt: however i doubt it will reach 400k's... but its worth a try
I think plastic sounds the goer... as long as its that heat resistant sheild stuff, i believe it would probably get hot if it was made out of metal :doubt: but everything gets hot in the engine bay regaurdless

I think plastic sounds the goer...All depends on what I can make it from or have it made from.

By the way, just because I'm looking at making these (one day) - it doesn't stop anyone else trying to make their own.

I know, i always wanted to try but ive never had time or place to do so  living in a small town suxzors.
Maybe just as a little encouragement, would it be possible to take a few pics of the prototype and possibly measurements?
That may be a slight push in the right direction for some of us.

I'll get the prototype in my car and see if it fits before I post up measurements.
