hi guys, i am looking at doing the second incarnation of my install.

just bought a new car and am going to take the existing;
4ch pioneer 4x70wrms amp and the
45 series mtx 12" and the
250w mtx mono
out of my magna and put them into my commodore.

now the question is i want to upgrade speakers and hu, [speakers wont be for a while yet though as i want to spend some large amount of dosh on clarion, alpine, hertz, polk maybe even focal splits]

what i want in a HU
plays cd, cd-r
flip down face or a dimmer
rotary volume
3 PRE OUTS!!!!!

probably around the 3-400 mark

atm i am running a pioneer flip down face, mp3 cd, cdr cdrw wma player.
has 1 pre out, 4x 50w mosfet amp and some nice tools for decompressing mp3 and wma.

what are you guys running and how do they treat you?

i would recomend you to purchase a alpine deck
very easy to use and is all around a top deck
i've upgraded from a pioneer to alpine and noticed the difference straight away
so yeah go with alpine
oh and i've got a CDA-9831, and its a top deck :D

cheers mr roberto. yeah i have had a look at clarion today and i know alpine are just as good but a little less common.
so far my experience has been with fusion, jvc, kenwood and pioneer.
kenwood are user friendly but i dont have that much confidence in their sq. pioneer has fared me well. fusion, seems complicated and i was a little dissapointed in the sq, but its all in the system not just the hu. the best so far is JVC in MGNTZD's car.

i have a CD8445 (similar to the 2nd best in their current range) and love it, good decks if ur after good SQ, even the one above has 3x5V preouts, cant complain about that!

*reason its going cheap is because they just updated their model lineup, so if u have a hunt around, u'll find it cheap as well :) *

oh, and 3yr warranty if installed by a certified place, otherwise 1year
