Hey people
My brother and I recently installed remote central locking into his 2nd gen. As with, I assume most after market kits, it comes with a wire (I think yellow or orange) from the remote central locking control unit to connect to your indicators to make them flash when you unlock/lock the car.
The other weekend, we were trying to connect this wire up without luck. We only managed to have either the left or right hand indicators flash without the car's electrics going completely degenerate or blowing a fuse. Not being very familar with the wiring system in the 2nd gen and having no workshop manual handy, we gave up on that idea.
However, we instead connected the wire directly to the ciggy lighter 'backlight' wire. Now when you press unlock/lock, the tail lamps, headlights and dash lights flash once/twice respectively with no detrimental affects thus far. Credit goes to my brother as it was his idea.
It might have been done before but it looks pretty cool so I thought I'd share anyway.:)
